Nope he wasnt. I dont feel sorry for him that he got hurt. He pretty much ruined David Booth's career.

His decline began when he had dual shoulder surgery during the 2009 off-season, it just didn't become serious or noticeable until he was an LAK and the injuries had piled up. His style of play paired with his lackluster conditioning certainly didn't help either. I doubt he has any regrets though. Between 2003 and 2012 he won, chronologically, a Memorial Cup, World Junior Gold, Calder Cup, Olympic Gold, and Stanley Cup. Not a bad decade.

You need some adjustments...

in any case, I remember thinking him and Jeff Carter would be the future of Philly and how hard it would be for anyone in the Metro (Atlantic back then) to compete with the Flyers. And then out of the blue both were traded away. Sometimes there are some major off ice issues we don't see that completely derail a players career. Some can bounce back if they 'grow up', so to speak. Some fall right back into their bad habits, whatever they may be. Paired with rapid aging and a style of play that contributes to rapid aging you'll have an athlete that isn't on top of the game anymore.

Sometimes it's hard to imagine for us seeing that we can always compete at a top level from our couch.

What happened to Richards you ask?
He won everything imaginable at a professional level, made a boatload of money and is enjoying a great life on the lake. What more was left to accomplish? He gave his all and has nothing left to prove or accomplish in pro hockey, I hope he enjoys the rest of his life away from hockey.

If you don't mind please post a picture with you and your day with the Cup.

Flyers got great VALUE for Richards...the trade itself is at best disappointing.

Kings made the deal to help them take the next step in the present. That happened.

Flyers made the deal to help them take the next step in the near future. We've won one playoff series in nearly 6 years.

Simmonds has proven to be more valuable than once thought. Schenn has disappointed significantly. Both are complimentary forwards while Richie was a core forward during two Cup runs.

As a Flyer fan I can freely admit this.

Will always ride for Richie and Carter. Gave me a ton of great memories as a Flyer fan and I wish them both the best. True core pieces.

I knew there was one of you on here somewhere

Kings have struggled since 2014 but I doubt they care how good Simmonds has become. Schenn is never going to reach his projection or potential but he's turned out to be a decent 2nd line center.

Kings fans get at me: would you trade two cups for two complimentary wingers?

I think we both know what the answer would be

Youre not a Flyers fan so I'll excuse your ignorance but I've been watching the team for the last six years closely. I know the value of our players.

Nope. I have a Simmonds jersey too. My two favorite players, were traded for one another.

When you don't work out, party every night and like to bang anything that walks by you, I'd assume it becomes pretty hard to compete with people who take playing in the NHL seriously

Mike's play and lifestyle were better-suited for the 80s...
