Tim Murray is a silver-tongued scam artist and it's a good thing he's gone before he threw coach after coach under the bus. Great move by the Sabres, future is looking better already.

I don't know if they can get Sutter. Thought the belief on him was he wanted to retire to his Alberta farm. If they get Lombardi, I wonder who his non-Sutter options would be.

I really think Sutter while maybe not done with the NHL, may take a year to realize he misses the daily grind.

Yeah, what a reversal in the past couple days. Eichel definitely played a huge hand in getting both of them out, so those reports were accurate. He better be lights out next season and lead by example on and off the ice or its going to look very, very bad.

Lombardi to BUF makes too much sense..Could see them wanting Sutter too to coach

I think they needed to clean house. Start over with both a new GM and coach.

I picture the announcement the same way Tim Murray makes his draft picks.

* approaches podium *

"Buffalo fires Tim Murray."

* leaves podium *

I would have np hiring Murray working with the amatur scouting in Jets. He seems kinda sharp at that thing, but no way near GM role.....

Wonder who the next lame duck will be?
Dallas Eakins would be happy for the work, can't imagine a coach of any pedigree would want to step into that mess.

It's one of the first things I thought of, particularly Lombardi.

Well, Murray was an idiot after the lottery when he said he felt disappointed for Buffalo fans. I can't imagine Eichel forgot those comments.

There's nothing wrong with Lombardi and Sutter. Both have won 2 cups together and both know what it takes to win. I bet you they improve to a playoff spot next year.

When you trade a first in a great draft for an unproven goalie, you better not let the rebuild stall

Sutter would be a great addition, though I guess they need to get a GM before they get a coach.

LA bled a ton of talent the last few years. Williams, Richards, Voynov, Stoll, Regehr, Mitchell, Penner, etc gone. Gaborik/Brown both significantly declined to the players that they were, Quick's been dealing with injuries. Subtract all that talent, no surprise they missed the playoffs. Sutter still had them outchancing the opposition at even-strength + above average special teams.

Winning two Cups with the group he had? LA had a pretty solid roster, but it was no Chicago roster, not any better than San Jose, Washington, NYR, Minnesota, St. Louis, etc, i.e. teams that haven't won the Cup with their current groups.

I hated Tim Murray so much, he comes off as such an *******, like a pushy used car salesman. Hope he doesn't get another GM job.

I'd love to see Bylsma back with the Islanders as an assistant.

Right move just surprised at Murray.

They need to bring in a no VS coach and GM now. Like none. Hoping they get someone like Lou.

If Sutter comes to town, Eichel and Sabres better come to play. He'll grind his team and work them hard. Sutter is still very old school

While he didn't have the greatest results, I'm surprised Tim Murray didn't get an extra year on the basis of his sparkling personality.

I'm pretty sure Sabres fans really liked Murray. He was garbage. Good news for Buffalo

How does Lombardi make sense? He's so damn overrated. He's bungled up a lot of trades and signings. Gaborik had a great playoff where he caught lightning in a bottle and he proceeded to give the guy a SEVEN year deal for a forward on the wrong side of 30. He trades for a goalie when scoring is the reason the Kings sucked.

That would be like Washington giving Justin Williams 7 years if he has a good run this year and helps them win the Cup.

Lombardi would be a great fit. Maybe Sutter, too. That would be a massive upgrade for the Sabres.
