Can't imagine guys with choice will willingly come to this team. You already know who's running the show (Jack Eichel).

The optics of this look horrendous. Eichel is going to have a miserable time if Buffalo struggles next year.

If his comments were true, Eichel will need to perform now.

Pretty sure they were having an even more miserable time with Bylsma as the coach.

The organization has been taken over by a spoiled brat teenager

Slippery slope to go down

Eichel simply jealous of mcdavid and couldn't handle it

Nothing more

Murray was good

Murray is surprising. Bylsma is not.

Eichel is getting way too much crap for this. If he's going to commit a big portion of his career to that city and team, he should absolutely be willing and able to not want to play for a coach. From everything I've seen, this was pretty much a team wide feeling.

Well, that sure as hell is going to cement the "Self-Entitled Jack Eichel is running things in Buffalo" nonsense rumor from now 'till the end of time.

I remember Sabres fans drinking the Pegula kool aid a couple years ago.

Seems to be dysfunction on both the Sabres and the Bills. He's the common denominator among both franchises.

If Jack got the coach and subsequently the GM fired, he will definitely have a say in the coach that is hired. I'm thinking he would want his old college coach if he has a say.

I am terrified of who we hire next. Tim Murray, love him or hate him, was the best of the Pegula hires (actually Lafontaine hired him before he quit).

Murray should have taken Sergachev last year but Nylander will be great and 2015 and 2016 drafts have lots of nice prospects.

Buffalo job should be very attractive despite the ribbing on HFboards.

Friedman was saying a few weeks back Eichel's college coach David Quinn (Boston U.) would be of high interest to the Sabres if they were to can Byslma. Maybe that would make him happy.

Second or third comment I've seen like this. I don't think there's much pressure on Eichel to perform given he's been really good to this point. Other than not being McDavid I wouldn't have any complaints if I were a Sabres fan.

Per the other thread, Gorges recently commented on the situation and reports have been out there since March. Must be a lot of spoiled brats on that team.

Ruff back in Buffalo... sounds exactly what the doctor ordered. I mean, Carlyle is back in Anaheim and Hitch is in Dallas. Why not?

Not sure why everyone liked Murray. He hasn't really made that many great moves and his rebuild has been very lackluster. His quotes with the media often sounded like a teenage brat. I'd be very glad as a Sabres fan to change that voice and direction.

Even if you subscribe to the idea that Murray was good at the hockey transactions side of things, his organization was clearly a complete mess internally. Cleaning house was the right move. There is plenty of good things left to salvage out of the Sabres, but they need to get it right this time.

Daryl Katz would have promoted Tim Murray to team president and let him hire Josh Gorges to be the next GM.

It would look really funny if the first hire they make is Dan Quinn as head coach.

I just find it funny they waited a week after the season to do this. If you wanted to fire the coach/GM it should of been after the last game. Cost them any shot at Hitch or Gallant?

If they can't get Lombardi or are not interested. What respected names league wide are available to take on a President of Hockey Ops role? Going down the legendary player route is always risky (plus who qualifies for this with the Sabres? Hasek or Lafontaine, who has quit 2 organizations already). The only name with significant clout league wide and respected is Bob Gainey, but he's been out of the league for a bit. Maybe go to Mike Gilles? I think they need someone at the top who commands respect, but I don't know who that would be. I don't think going with a young GM similar to Murray is a good idea. Maybe they can find a president like Shanahan (which tons of Leafs fans were skeptical about to start), but I don't know who that is.

He was a god in his own mind, but an average GM at best that loved to deal (which was amusing for sure). Personally wouldn't want him as my GM, but I know some Sabres' fans loved him.

As for the replacement, I'm glad nobody has mentioned Dubas - and I sure as hell hope that people just see him as this guy with no experience that can't handle the job.
