Now that is a D core.
Alzner would be great. I remember being very impressed with him in our 2012 series against the caps. He's still in his prime, I'm just worried about the contract he's gonna get... But I would be more worried about what Shattenkirk is going to get.

What a turnaround that defense would be from this season, especially if Carlo and McAvoy improve...

I like Alzner, but he's going to be expensive. Don't know if I like the idea of +5 million dollar stay at home defenceman with very limited offence.

McAvoy has been good with zero experience. After seeing the speed of the NHL game and having all summer to get in better shape, does anyone honestly think he's not in the Top 4 next year? And do people think that Carlo won't be better/more experienced?

Why do the Bruins need to go get a Top 4 FA D?

Exactly, better wingers should be the number one priority this summer.

I wouldn't go after any defenseman in the offseason. McAvoy makes a difference next year.

The league is getting younger. I know that it's a risk but I'd prefer to see how some of our D prospects fair rather than overpay on a LHD. Many teams are having success integrating rookies into their team these past few years, Lauzon, Lindgren, Zboril, and even O'Gara may be able to break into the lineup next year and show us something.

Of course none of these guys are on McAvoy level, but most are also a little older.

It's going to be nice watching McAvoy AND Krug patrol the blueline next season. Do defencemen suffer sophomore slumps? If not, hoping for some further improvement from Carlo as well.

i O'Gara especially, should be able to more quickly assimilate to an NHL role with his size, mobility and pro experience. A stay-at-home defenseman, he could complement someone like Chiller on a third pairing.

Of course, someone like Lauzon or Zboril could surprise at Camp.

McAvoy will not have a sophomore slump. He's too good. Sure he'll refine his game and have some growing pains. As for Carlo, expect him to bulk up a bit in the off-season. Seems like the Bruins are being cautious in putting him back in the lineup here. Long term view. Carlo will become a beast.

As another poster stated, McAvoy is Captain material. Some on this board were questioning his personality. I think he's infectious as his BU teammates have stated. Future Captain!

I hope they hang on to C Miller I don't think we have seen his full potential.

Chara-MacAvoy
Krugg-Carlo
McQuaid-Miller

And waiting in te wings: C Miller, Zboril, Lauzon...
There is plenty enough without looking elsewhere.

Don't kill me for this. I am in NO WAY CONDONING IT lol. But he in a way like his body type, and style reminds me of Doughty. Again I am not saying he will be nearly as good.

The quick adrenaline rush of the playoffs is quite different than the long marathon haul of the regular season ... MacAvoy has all the tools, but he will still need time adjust to NHL life ... especially the regular season. Next year will definitely be exciting to watch and see how he progresses.

Man - in this Cap-World, what a luxury it'll be to have 2 players younger than 21, on ELC's in the top-4 and playing like they belong in the top-4

That was who he was compared to a lot pre-draft (stylistically, not necessarily talent) so I doubt anyone will kill you for it.

McAvoy has thrown more hits this series than Hamilton did his entire Bruins career.

I don't think they need to throw big money or either Shattenkirk or Alzner or any other FA defenseman for that matter. I can't see Shattenkirk signing here for the same reason he wanted out of St. Louis. As he gets older, and McAvoy and Carlo continue to progress, he's going to end up as the 3rd pairing RHD which he was with the Blues behind Pietrangelo and Parayko. Spending that kind of coin for that when you have C. Miller and one of McQ/K. Miller would be silly IMO.

As far as Alzner, I'd prefer they just throw a bunch of these prospects/picks into a big time deal for a top LHD. Someone like OEL, Lindholm, Brodin, maybe Fowler. Don't know what it would cost, probably more than we're willing to pay, but that would solve a ton of long-term issues. Guy like Zboril, LW prospect, high pick, Spooner? Who knows? I'm sure this will be discussed at length during the off-season.

He's been so good. Still think they need a top 4 LHD to play with McAvoy once Chara hangs it up.

Definitely need a top 6 LW and a top 9 RW. Hope they have some more Landeskog discussions.

I hope so as well. I feel like he's so close to being a really elite player. To me, it's completely worth exposing K. Miller and McQ and even paying Vegas to take McQ if they are inclined to take a D. There will definitely be plenty of defensive guys available for Vegas to take.

31+ minutes tonight. I was against burning a year off his ELC, but he's getting some seriously valuable experience as a 19 year old and looking great while doing it. Good on him (obviously) and the Bruins brass for getting him inked and making the call to put in the line up game 1.

Yup. Passes like him too. Crisp quick sauce passes on tape with alot of zip on 'em. Basically ideal for powerplay(not unlike Savard.)

That pass to Backes in OT that 42 couldn't bury was just ridiculous.
