Votes are already in. These were just the 3 that got the most votes. The winner is already decided before the "nominees" are announced, just won't be announced until the awards show.

Almost guaranteed to be settled out of court. Wideman and the Flames have absolutely nothing to gain by having this claim heard before a judge.

Wideman UFA probably not in the Flames plan to resign him at 34 and definitely won make the 5 plus mil he made this past year.

The Calder going to Matthews is about as sure of a bet you can make. Laine deserved to be in the top 3 and he was.

Ok in a sport where style for executives goes to die Marc Bergevin is a GQ beast. He dresses the way Cherry thinks he dresses.

Not only did Chicago get swept.... they scored 3 goals in 4 games. They got their ***** handed to them. Good thing they are paying so much money to just two players.

I could see a major blow it up moment coming for the Hawks.

Rinne had as many points as Chicago's leading scorer

Any chance Quenneville is gone? Watch Maurice become the 4th longest tenured HC in the NHL.

LOL, an Avs fan on Reddit:

Hey Chicago, if you weren’t going to win a playoff game, you could’ve done that with 61 less points. Much more efficient

How do you blow it up with a few anchor contracts that are impossible to move (Toews, Kane, Seabrook, Crawford)? That's almost half of the salary cap tied up in 4 players that don't seem good enough to make a deep playoff run.

Plus, Marian Hossa 5.2 plus for 4 more years , Brent Seabrooke 6.8 plus for 7 years

Depth is so important and the Hawks depth has been depleted over the years. They are going to suck in a couple of years when Keith, Toews and even Kane lose even more of a step.

And to think where they would be if the didn't sign Keith before the never ending front loaded contracts were eliminated. But it is a great example of today's NHL cap system. Go for it today at the expense of tomorrow. Also a bit of a cautionary tale of...when you go for it you better hit your window and have a cup or 2 to show for it. Both the Hawks and Kings got their shots at glory and will likely now start sinking under the weight of their veteran contracts.

This is very true the Kings are already there, they cleaned house in terms of coach and management and it will take time to rebuild, the Hawks could still be good but the glory days are gone.
