Both the Hawks and Kings got their shots at glory and will likely now start sinking under the weight of their veteran contracts.
It also shows that sometimes you need to make an unpopular ruthless decision and move out popular players that won you cups instead of overpaying substantially through non prime years to keep them there (cough Toews and Seabrook. Kane is still worth his contract but won't be in 3ish years). Sometimes you trade these guys when at the height of their value and retool on the fly. LA fell into a similar trap with Kopitar, Gaborik etc.

Sharks missed driving the spike through the Oilers chest and it's going to be really tough for them to keep Edmonton down now. Entertaining series.

Devin Setoguchi just signed a 2 year contract with my hometown team (Adler Mannheim). Good for him I guess, Mannheim is known to pay the highest salaries in Germany (kind of owned by SAP).

Still think that Sharks will win that series. Oilers are too young.

Maybe but when you give a young team hope it's dangerous.

Ugh. What a drag to see Ovechkin go down. Could be a game-changing hit by Kadri.

By the same token when you give young teams pressure it's also dangerous for them.

You could be right for sure at this point my brain is telling me Edmonton but I wouldn't be surprised if the Sharks have one more trick up their sleeve but allot of their players are older and have played allot of hockey in the last 12 months so we shall see.

Interesting goings on in the Caps/Leafs game.

First, Kadri hits Ovetchkin.

Did I not see the puck anywhere around the play there? Pretty dirty in that case

That's not a hit. That's a cheapshot. Of course it's that gutless punk Kadri. He is a dispicable player that deserves to be tossed out of the league. Seriously, the guy has been doing this same dirty cowardly attempting to injure back to his junior days.

Then Ovechkin slashes Kadri on the left arm and Kadri falls clutching his left leg?

Kadri pleads innocence on all those plays, Leafs fans must be so proud.

Don't know why the league lets Komarov wear his visor flipped up.

I wish Maurice had the Jets playing the way Toronto is playing. Speed speed speed, relentless forechecking, and abundance of offense. I just look at them and go, "What's stopping us from looking like this?"

same. maybe next year. Our teams are not identical but we have enough fast skilled players capable of playing that type of game too.
