Flames are screwed. Wideman effect will live on indefinitely. If Wideman wins again, I can't even imagine the grudge against the team. Thank goodness Wideman's contract ended this season though at the very least.
A deliberate action of a person caused harm to another which took away potential for future earnings. I won't comment on the amount, but on the surface, I think he has a viable case. This isn't a case of "it goes with the job that you might get injured".
Hmm Henderson looked fine in that game didn't he? Like he finished reffing the game? Didn't realize he was out since then.
No idea what the hell happened with Wideman. Have to think it was a culture issue with the Flames. That team seems to have a disregard for anyone's well being and selfishly likes to take out their frustrations by making dirty plays.
********. People try to get money out of everything nowadays. What the hell will that 10 Million do, certainly wont take back that crosscheck.
I don't see it that way. He likely won't get $10M, that's their opening salvo. But Wideman's deliberate actions caused severe injuries and took away opportunity for the guy to earn a salary and do what he loves. He most definitely has a viable case IMO, at least on the surface.
What happens on the ice stays on the ice as far as I'm concerned. Therefore I'm against this and hope he loses.
Ridiculous. Maybe if this was a player on player incident I could see your perspective, but a player attacking an official (which this was if Wideman did it on purpose) is absolutely not a part of the game nor has it ever been. By your logic, a player could stab another player or official with a broken stick and its would be "what happens on the ice stays on the ice", and not a criminal issue. Ridiculous.
