Ha, Hotels.com... Capt Obvious is alright, but I can't stand the Trivago guy.
There have been several flukey, weird bouncing goals on the NYR side this series and I'm still holding on after what happened in game 2. Unless they're down by 3 going into the 3rd on Saturday, I'll be watching.
If we lose in 6 i.e. suffer a third consecutive loss, I'm expecting one of MB / Patches to be out in the summer. If we lose in 7 at home in a close game, I'm expecting a whole bunch of excuses and status quo in the summer.
Yeah, lines need to be changed up a little. I'd do:
Pacioretty - Plekanec - Gallagher
Byron - Galchenyuk - Radulov
Lehkonen - Danault - Shaw
Mitchell - Ott - McCarron/Flynn/Kirk Muller coming out of retirement/One of the kids who fist pumps the players when stepping on the ice... anyone but King
Markov - Weber
Benn - Petry
Ugh - Ugh... I guess Emelin and Bo
Even though I really think Price hasn't been PRICE in the playoffs and allowed a few softies, you can't really blame the guy for our situation, he's given our team a chance every single night.
His save percentages from the 5 games:
.967 .921 .952
In bold are the games we won.
Agreed, and I don't think you can pin any of the 3 goals last night directly on Price either.
First goal, when Zibanejad crosses over, Petry picks up the assignment and Beaulieu needs to pick up Fast as he's going to the net, but instead let's Fast get inside position on him, resulting in a grade A scoring chance that ended up in the net.
Second goal, 3 Habs pick up the puck carrier along the boards leaving Nash open down low and Skjei open from the point. Price makes the initial save bailing out his team but Skjei easily pots the rebound. If 2 Habs didn't get caught puck-watching, Skjei's shot doesn't even get through to Price.
OT winner was just bad luck. Emelin played it right, he took away Kreider's shot, but an bad bounce off his stick landed right on Zibanejad's stick, Price had no chance.
Of course, if we are to win the next 2 games, we need everyone at their absolute best, including Price. Blown coverage, puck-watching, lost assignments cannot happen.
Lehkonen had been playing great, wouldn't mind seeing what he and Radulov could do together.
Pacioretty has played well with Plekanec in the past, Plekanec is playing some pretty good hockey now, as is Gallagher, maybe that could help spark him.
Beaulieu needs to sit out, he hasn't been very good all series long.
At least my expectations are low now. I feel we outplayed them overall in the series, so it's pretty disheartening to be down 3-2 at this point. Hoping they pull it off.
I feel like it LOOKED like we outplayed them, but we weren't as much of a threat as they were. It just felt like a series of wasted efforts, the first half of the game was different though, Habs did outplay them. But mid way through the game, with us leading 2-1 they just slowed down. Seriously how many times did you see the Habs enter their zone and pose a serious threat. I was ******** bricks each time they were in ours.
It just feels like the Habs skate more, shoot more and just generally do more, but it usually doesn't lead to anything, that's either the Rangers doing their job or us just plainly not finishing. Mix of both I think. Add at least one stinker from Price a game, and thats why we lose by a goal.
