Can we move on from post like this? It's getting really ridiculous. No offense but just saying.

My money is on someone unusually large but only because we seem to be drafting in cycles. After they took the local boy at home in 2009 it's been big guy, skill guy with size, unexpected top-10 pick in the first round. So based purely on the drafting pattern of the past six seasons, I'm going to go with one of Popuguev or Rasanen unless Hague somehow drops.

How many picks do we have this year? 1st, and 2 seconds, and then one in every round from there??

Yeah no team needs prospects anyways!

Seriously, our prospect pool is horrible. We need as many picks as possible so when this nightmare is over we actually have a team to ice.

Yamamoto is a must-draft if hes available at our pick imo. (Unless someone better like Suzuki falls) We simply can't pass up on his offensive prowess.

My feeling? Josh Norris. We have to continue our ties with the Wolverines at one point....

Norris has everything our brass will like. Great 2-way mind. Centerman. Going to Michigan for development. Bloodlines. Good size, great skater......the question mark, though isn't it for everybody, is upside... But I think that he could be more offensive than some scouting reports suggest.

Going with Josh Norris at this point.
We looked at Norris yesterday.

Wat about that big, tall Russian forward: Popugayev ?

Robert Thomas seems to be a skilled center.

Only 5 picks.

No pick in round 4-6-7... but that could change, of course.

I say there is a big chance we trade our 1st round pick this year. So look for the Habs to take a few long shots at potential centers in the 40-60 range in prospect rankings. You can bank on the next draft pick being a center. With our 2- 2nd round picks, were taking two centers IMO. 1st round pick will be used for a center as well (if we don't trade it).

I would add Robert Thomas and Suzuki to that list. Thomas is highly skilled offensively with a work ethic like gallaghers. Suzuki is a bit of a reach at 24-25 unless we can move up to get him. He has the skill we're missing in our prospect pool.

Wouldn't mind if we managed to trade up in the 2nd round to get either Ikonen of Barratt

What worries me a bit development wise with Norris is that he's kind of on limbo next season, since he'll only be eligible for college in 2018-19. Niagara hold his rights in the CHL so he might be persuaded to go that route instead.

Edit: Seems like the eliteprospect site made a mistake listing him as a 2018 freshman, he'll be a Wolverine next year. My bad.

Then before he even played a goddamn game for the franchise, got extended on a long and overpaid contract that is an anchor we will not be able to trade.

That is Bergevins second worst trade behind the Weber for Subban trade. We are paying Shaw slightly less than Vegas is paying Shipachyov who could have possibly helped out our abysmal center depth.

We lost that trade astronomically. It's honestly such a bad trade that Habs fans should vomit when they hear or think of Shaw. They should realize he's a Shawful player, acquisition and human.

It will take a decade, if not more, to change the prospect pool from horrible to good if our only source of prospects are late round picks.

How about using every pick to draft a center?

At least one of them will develop into a 1C! Foolproof!

If the past is any indication, it's probably going to be the wrong guy.

I wouldn't go for a D unless someone falls who we can't pass on

my darkhorse would be Isaac Ratcliffe, 6'4 skilled winger, skating needs work.

Shoot your suggestions
No idea leave it to you guys but no crappy skaters please. If a guy can't skate well with top training for ten years by age 17 he never will.

I'd normally say BPA but they have to start addressing the center position NOW. With development time, the player won't make an impact for probably 3 years. It's too late.
