Eh, Friedman seemed to see it immediately.

I absolutely blame the refs because they took no more than 30 seconds to review the play. Why so quick? They already got one wrong in game 4, you would think they'd take the time to get this one right but nope, right to an immediate decision.

I'm sure the NHL will release a statement with some garbage saying "incidental contact" or whatever

Of course the NHL just releases a statement saying Nurse pushed Kesler in and make absolutely no mention of Kesler's hand pulling/grabbing Talbot's equipment.

Because NHL.

I guess it's hard to say what you can and can't do while someone is on top of you
He did pull on the pad but that was way prior to the goal going in, so the question is did that tug not allow Talbot the chance to make the save. IMO Talbot had a fair chance and the call was right.

So if a player is in front of the net and grabs at a goaltenders glove and is pulling at it, but ultimately lets go and then 2/3 seconds later a shot goes in, do you think that's a fair goal?

If Talbot could have gotten up even just half a second earlier he may have made the save.

This reminds me of the Leafs collapse in 2013, but this is game 5 not game 7 so it's not as bad I guess

Of course it's going into 2nd OT when I have to be at work in 4 hours. So much for sleep.

Playoffs OT hockey is the best but we've reached the point where I just want to go to sleep.

I do feel bad for them. Granted it never should have gotten to that point where they give up 3 goals in 3 minutes, but that's 2 games in a row now the refs have blown blatant goaltender interference calls to the point where it's just laughable now.

Ouch. I don't know how you rebound after this one. I thought Nurse played pretty well tonight but he's going to hear it for that misplay on the GWG.

Eh, I still think he's a hockey dumb player. He looks impressive offensively out there...he skates well, he has the puck on his stick a fair bit, and rushes it into the zone...but after a while you realize that whenever he gets the puck in the offensive zone he doesn't actually create anything out of it. He doesn't have his head up, he doesn't pick out passes...he just dumps it at the goal, every time. And defensively he's still making mistakes. He's a young player, he'll iron out his game and his physical attributes are so obvious (size and speed), but he's not even close to maximizing them.

Also...the Oilers are just appalling on faceoffs. Jesus Christ, it's ugly. They need to get someone to work on that exclusively with their centre's this off-season, they need to get an actual defensive centre (AKA not RNH, the guy who can't be trusted to take important faceoffs because he loses them, and not Mark Letustu, who's being overstretched out there).

Edit: While Getzlaf is also so incredibly talented, I also think he's displaying why size will always matter in the NHL, and why henchy has a point when he talks about a big centre up the middle. Physically nobody on the Oilers knows how to handle him.

McLellan said it best when he said "I don't know what goaltender interference is anymore". Nobody does. The refs need to all have a great big meeting this summer where they decide what exactly constitutes interference and then EXPLAIN IT TO EVERYBODY.

Also, maybe if they would pay closer attention to plays where goalie interference happens, they would wave off more of these goals before it gets to the review process.

It's hard to feel bad for a team that had a 3-0 lead with 4 minutes left. Sorry. They choked.

They wouldn't have choked if the refs made the right call.

Im not sure why they leave reviews up to the refs anyways. Let the refs make the call on the ice, then let TO review it with all their angles and let them decide on the final call on any review.

They didn't have to let two other goals in in just over three minutes.

The opinion on officiating seems to be pretty clearly delineated. The Canandians, especially those from Alberta, think it was crap. The rest think it was understandable, with caveats that the system could use improvements. Interesting.

Seemed like a pretty obvious hometown call to avoid waiving two in one game. They probably felt it was close enough to lean the other way

Went to bed after the first. It was 5:30 here. I have some regrets about that.

Just when I think I am done watching Avs hockey, I turn the game on for the last 5 minutes of regulation and what do you know.
