Lineup of
Pacioretty - Thorton - Radulov
Lehkonen - Galchenyuk - Gallagher
Byron/Hudon - Danault - Shaw
Byron/Hudon - McCarron - Mitchell

seems pretty good on paper.

Then trade our prospects (Sergachev if we need to) to get a top 4 mobile D to play with Weber.
Has it been confirmed that Thornton will not resign with the sharks?
Or people are just wishing he leaves?

His name is Thornton, and he had surgery April 24th to repair two damaged ligaments in his knee. Torn ACL and MCL at 37 years old. He IS not going to be Montreals first line center.
He might be closer to retirement then people think.

Mostly wishful thinking. Very low chance that he leaves the Sharks AND also chooses MTL as his next team.

Corrected the spelling, thanks.

He's going to recover for the start of next season, and he WOULD be our 1C, because our C depth sucks. Even at 37, he's still a much better player than Danault, Plekanec and McCarron and better defensively than Galchenyuk, so Claude would trust him more. He had 50 points last year and would also be an excellent C for Pacioretty. I wouldn't mind signing him for 1/2 years at around 5M.

No it doesn't look good. You're asking a 38 year old coming off of ACL surgery to turn the team around offensively. That would be the two slowest 1-2 centres in the league and the Habs would get eaten alive.

Curious to hear about Montreal and Dallas as trade partners. Dallas is strong down the middle Spezza (NMC), Seguin, Shore, Faska, Janmark, etc. Also, you have the possibility of drafting a C with the #3 pick.

The problem is Dallas is weak on the wing. Thoughts?

This one I agree with you on! Thornton is most likely not interested in Montreal and the Habs should not be interested in him either. He's not the center we need.

Pacioretty for a good centre is a good start to an overall trade.

Spezza put the Habs on a no trade team list before and the Stars are probably not trading Seguin. Count them out. Then you got the younger centers. There could be interest but we need top 2 proven centers IMO.

Honestly, I think the best solution is to start a rebuild because we're never getting 2Cs and a 1D without creating other holes in the lineup. Trading Pacioretty+ for a C will be good value wise because C's are more important, but we still won't get far cause then we'll be missing a goal-scorer.

Thornton may be 38, but he's a good C for Patches since he's a playmaker. I don't see what the issue is with getting a free 1C. But as many others said, doubt Thornton would ever want to come play here anyways.

Clod is trending the wrong way, big time...and at 8.25M this might be a real bad mistake...
Duchene seems like a better option, and should be cheaper...he had an awful season...but then again, he had zero to play for...he sure looks like he is wanting out...

Giroux should not go for more than Kessel. If PHI wants to move him we should see a similar deal

1st + former 1st rounder +D +vet +retention.

So 1st + MAC/Scherback +Davidson +Flynn and PHI retains 2 Mill.

Galchenyuk has been better than Duchene the last 2 years. Seeing him and Beaulieu off to COL for just Duchene wouldn't surprise me from Bargainbin.

Press conferences by Habs brass, can also produce bold face lies......ask MB!!

I really hope we keep Chucky...he won some big OT games for us this year, the guy is a sniper, and we need goals!!!
Still not sure why MB wasn't more engaged in the Shipachev sweepstakes...costs nothing but money....9M/2 years, and Radulov was surely staying then...

Galchenyuk and Beaulieu to Dallas for the 3rd overall and Faksa. Then trade the 3rd overall for Fowler and Sergachev for Duchene. That's a lot of trades but I think would be good for the team.

Pacioretty-Duchene-Radulov
Lehkonen-Faksa-Gallagher

Fowler-Weber
Markov-Petry

Not a bad top end, considering what they've been marching out there.

What do you see in Faksa that makes you feel that he will be able to have more offensive production then Eller?

Great... Negotiating from a position of weakness. Such a pathetic franchise this has become.
