Shark Dumping in Long Island?

Click on trade rumours.

Ricci would be great!...but at 3 million he seems very unlikely.

Damphousse and Thornton should be of no interest.

I simply don't see a need for any of these guys on the Island. Thorton's another Wiemer. Ricchi and Scatchard arre very similar. Vinny has good skill but not at his current pricetag. I doubt any of the three end up here.

anyone of those players would be nice to have, but I don't see the fit. Isles are strong at center, and don't have much room on the payroll.

So, I seriously doubt anything is in the works.

...and that's exactly why I love the idea of Ricci in an Islander uniform. Two players like that are always better then one.

I'm under the impression that Ricci's option was picked up at the start of this season and he's on his final year of his contract, thus making him a UFA.

Wiemer $1.7
Hunter $500K

for

Ricci $3.0

Obviously I'd be hoping the Sharks continue to struggle and decide to go with cheaper, younger players and unload their veterans.

Isles do slightly add to the payroll, but at seasons end they could walk away and actually shed three contracts and save money.

Isles get a hard nosed playoff performer.

Sharks get two players for a soon to be UFA.

Any good?

First you try to do Wiemer + Timander for Ricci.

Why give up two players for nothing after one year especially when Hunter is young and cheap, I don't think it would happen.

Try a Wiemer + Timander for Ricci?...Why?...They'd never do that.

You have to give to get,and in this case the Isles do,and without depleting our main corps or depth.

Wiemer's contract is 1.62 mil...that's pretty expensive for a player of his caliber or lack thereof...

Where would you put Ricci? They already have like 8 centers....

i have no interest in this deal or Ricci. i was just pointing out that Wiemer's salary is pretty excessive for his player type...

isles do not need another center...even with Scatch out of the line-up. besides, Wiemer is a hard player to move from a salary and production point of view...he's not even worth 1.7 mil for his extra 'attributes' ...

plus, if isles need to take on salary, ricci is not the player i want to be added...

With the impending cap and tight budget,I don't see the isles using trade chips or budget $ on more 3rd/4th liners.

I'd prefer one of San Jose's physical dmen (Rathje)for Weimer.

Sounds good but I'd doubt Calgary would want Wiemer back...especially at his price.
