Does anyone know what the deal is with the new CBA and European prospects?
Under the old CBA, you could retain the rights of Euros indefinitely while they were in Europe.
Apparently, it's different under the new one. It's apparently same as North American prospects (sign within 2 years, or go back to the draft). This is going to have the reverse affect on European drafting trends. In the past, teams were picking up a lot of Euros in the mid-late rounds, because they knew they couldn't lose their rights. Now, teams will really shy from drafting Euros because they stand a chance to lose their rights.
My question is this... How does this affect our current Euro prospects? Specifically, guys like Setzinger, Kulyash, Sulzer, Laasko, Stehlik, Glazchev, etc. Do we now stand a chance to lose them?
