berard

when is berard going on the IR? he's been out for ages and they are talking surgery. you think they'd want to call up another player in his place. thanks in advance to anyone who might know this.

My guess is he will probably be on IR within the next 2 weeks and probably be out for the season. We are already carrying 2 extra defensemen so we will not be calling anyone up, unless things change at the deadline. If we do call someone up in the event we move a couple bodies at the deadline, it will probably be Aaron Johnson.

It's not looking good for Berard right now; here's a quote from yesterday's Dispatch:

A specialist, whom Berard saw last week in Los Angeles, recommended three more weeks of rest.

"Surgery is the last option," Berard said. "Right now, we’re close to that."

2/28/2006 update: According to this morning's Dispatch, surgery has pretty much been ruled out for Berard, who will likely be shelved for the next couple of weeks.

Good. Maybe he can pick up a pen, sign my card and send it back to me with the extra time he has on his hands...

maybe now after the trade he'll be put on IR? it does leave them with one less defencemen. what benefit is it to the team not to put him on IR?

I know. That leaves you with one less blueliner. So maybe now you need to call someone up and put Berard on IR???
