I loved the play Semenov made on the PP. He stood up the Flame player with a stiff shoulder check, then knocked him on his ass with a right cross. I was suprised there was no penalty called but it looked impressive. I think this guy is a keeper.

I didn't think Oliwa knew how to do that...

Evidently, neither did Tommy.

Should be fascinating (or painful) to watch.

In the end I am predicting that the Oilers' ineptitude in defense and goal will give the Flames' offense the help it needs to get out of their slump.

I don't think Tommy was thinking Oliwa was going to suddenly transform into Keith Primeau.

2003-04 Oilers: the only team in the league that can make Krysztof Oliwa look like Pavel Bure.

I'm pretty disgusted right now.

Somehow I think that the Oilers are going to be in a tight playoff run this year again (if they even do that good) and we can look back on these two losses to the Flames. I mean if we cant beat an inferior team WTF is the rest of the season gonna be like.

On that goal?

This game?

Or just the general condition of our wet tissue defense this season?

I'll just pick one of those and say "yes" he would have made a difference.

Our defense is crap. It doesn't help that the main guy in the deal that sent Janne out of here was a healthy scratch tonight.

I can't agree, I mean Calgary is the more experienced, older, smarter, better defensive team. I think that this team is turning a corner, they can now win the tight low scoring games and when there offense kicks in (which hopefully continues) they are tough to beat IMO. I really like the puck persuit system that Sutter has brought in, they're everywhere on the ice causing turnovers (I think the Oilers had FAR more turnovers than Calgary tonight) and there PK is vastly improved over last year. Maybe it's just me.

He made a difference on the Island tonight. Played physical, 1 goal, 1 assist and a +3 with little PP time. He might have helped "a little" if only to keep Brewer,Cross and Ferguson off the ice for a few minutes.

Not to mention his leadership on and off the ice... I would have given him the "C" over Jason Smith any day.

I am sorry but I watched this game tonight with alot of Edmonton fans, and to call Calgary inferior after that is just stupid. I wish that Calgary and Edmonton fans could just call it how it is. The teams are pretty much even talent wise with Calgary having the edge in experience(being older and having better leadership), and Edmonton having the edge in young talent. If one of these teams beats the other it all comes down to who played better on that given night. And it just so happens that Calgary did play better tonight. I have to admit that Georges pounding on Oliwa would have been funny.

More experienced? ah, ok.. This is a team thar hasn't made the playoffs is 7 years. This is a team that started out great a few seasons ago and collapsed to missed the playoffs. Listen, the Flames are playing way better hockey than Edmonton right now. They are solid defensively and they are well coached. But more experienced?
