The upcoming draft

I know that most of you are bored to tears with all of the draft talk, but I'm not gonna talk about dealing Montoya or anything like that I am just wondering if anyone here think that the rangers will stay with the czech formula and try to get Tlusly or Frolik if they drop in the first round? Maybe they'll try to get Jagr to mentor one of the if they draft them.

Thoughts?

nah, i think they'll draft whoever they feel is the best player, regardless of nationality.

i'm sure they already had the "czech plan" in place at last years draft, yet they still drafted a bunch of NA's with their top picks

definatly wouldn't be surprised to see them move up in the draft one way or another though

edit: plus it's highly unlikely anyone they draft this year is gonna be playing for the rangers in the next 2 years or so...by that time, the rangers will have transitioned away from the czech lines i think...jagr's contract will be nearing it's end, and the rangers will have incorporated some of their other prospects into the team, most of whom aren't czech

you know the whole saying, draft for future needs, not what you need right now.

Very true, they'll probably try to move up and get a center, well the czech idea was just a thought.

I think it's more than a nationality thing. The Rangers are looking for someone with skill but they also need to fit into the philosophy that Renney and Maloney have been talking about since the end of the 03-04 season that is, hard working, hard to play against and good team guys.

I'm praying we finally land a stud center from North America.

What are all the picks we have this year? Any extra 2nds or anything, or did we trade any away?

Actually, it sounds like he might be available when the Rangers make the selection with their 2nd of two #1's ( ) in the upcoming draft, and he's sounds intrguing due his combination skill and decent size, so I wouldn't shocked if the Rangers drafted him.

Depends.

They're going to look into moving up if they can, but who knows.

The top of the draft is very center heavy.

No just speculation on this board that the rangers might be trading Montoya for a top five pick since Lundqvist is simply dominating
