I'll take Jokinen too! Fat chance though............he'll end up in Ottawa with Redden going the other way.

UFA for UFA doesn't accomplish much for Keenan

I've also heard that Jokinen to Ottawa is pretty much a lock to happen. The question is, who do they give up to get him, and who does that leave that the Flyers have a realistic chance of getting?

I think Philly would have a good chance to get him if they gave the right things. Problem is this: I dont believe Clarke wants to deal with Jokenin's agent, and i think he'll stand by that unless he doesnt have to give anything significant away...But thats not the case becasue there are other teams looking at Jokenin and licking their chops.

i used to be really excited about getting Jokinen, but I think we all need to come to grips that most likely Ollie will not be wearing orange and black anytime soon...

what about going after Parrish or Vyborny, and then going after Morris or Witt

That solidifies our wing and defense problems for even less than Jokinen (not sure on this, pure speculation)

I tend to agree and I'd not give up what it would take to get Jokinen until I understand Johnsson's condition. Johnsson is the wild card here -- if he is out, then Jokinen does nothing but get the Flyers to a second round.

Also I think one can get two Tier Two guys for the price of Jokinen and given the Flyers' suspect depth (largely the result of rookies Richards Umberger Carter Jones Meyer -- all of whom I like but who are unlikely to have good first playoffs), I'd rather get two guys than one. If any of the rookies, save perhaps Richards, and/or Brashear Savage Therien are getting substantial minutes come April, the Flyers ain't gonna beat Ottawa or Carolina.

Playoff worthy forwards on the roster include (in no particular order)

Gagne Forsberg Knuble
Kapanen Nedved Stevenson
Radivojevic Handzus Richards

After that it just ain't good enough. This year.

Dittoes defensively with 37, 44, 2, and 3.

The Flyers need one more player at each.

I don't think Ottawa trades a UFA for a UFA, but Redden could be traded

Might as well get something for him instead of just letting him walk

I like that a lot. But it would cost us as the Islanders are in the same division. But that would make us scoring machines and more gritty. I think Parrish should atleast be on the flyers to get list or blake i dont want satan.

If im Ottawa i dont trade Redden cause he is and has been a cornerstone in their defense. when your ottawa and you have a year like this year, where its so obvious your gonna not only be in the playoffs but you are gonna make a run for the cup, the defense doesnt need shaken up, especially not this close to the end of the year with 20 somthing games to go till the playoffs. I'd only move him if I could get a rediculous offer back, but that wont happen cause he is a UFA.

2) If, however, Jokinen is going to be dealt by the Panthers, the Ottawa Senators will be at the front of the line to get him, but they won't be parting with, as rumoured, Anton Volchenkov or any other blue chipper off their roster. A Jokinen deal will be done for draft picks, some high drafts picks and perhaps many draft picks, but just draft picks.
If we get him, it will be for a package of picks and maybe a prospect. I'm not holding my breath, but it was nice to hear.

Only way Ottawa deals Redden or Chara is for Luongo. only because so they can stay under the cap.

By the sounds of that, no team is out of the Jokinen race. Especially not Philadelphia considering our stockpile of draft picks.

Four 2006 2nd rounders for Olli Jokinen?

yeah i was thinking that too. why is ottawa the frontrunner if it is only picks and prospects, when we have one of the largest pools of high end picks and a bunch of decent prospects too?

Ottawa is the frontrunner because they are in Canada where the readership is and because it is generally assumed that as a team who has been top notch where talent is concerned for five fruitless years, the HAVE to win SOON. So caution to the wind and all that.

Plus Clarkie hates EuroSofties.

I think that Fla, NYI and other teams out of the picture are waiting around for good offers - and are expecting to get too much. Jokinen is not going to draw much more than some good picks - no solid players with contracts. Keenan probably wants a 1st and a player and nobody is willing to do that for a rental.

Keenan will have to lower his expectations on a trade for Jokinen the closer we get to the 9th - or he'll get nothing in the end. I hope nobody is stupid enough to give up more than what the Canes gave up for Weight.

You kidding? I'd give up plenty more for Jokinen than what Weight went for. Jokinen is 27 and I think he would hopefully be more than a rental.
