Forsberg

Probably get killed for suggesting this, but the Flyers ain't winning diddly this year
with futile goaltending, a coach who does'nt like his players to hit and a group of players that look half interested in playing hockey. That said I think the flyers have a bright FUTURE w/ Carter, Richards, Umburger, Gagne, Pitkanen, Downie and Potulny. Niitymaki will be good but I don't see a cup within 2 years.

WHat would U offer for Peter Forsberg who is signed through next year at 5.75 M?

Peter Forsberg is the one thing that's NOT wrong with the Philadelphia Flyers.

This might be one of the toughest trade proposals to figure out value that I've ever seen.

Frank Nitty is considered futile goaltending now? What has the world come to?

Read the paragraph again, its in no way ripping Forsberg, its simply my opinion that
the flyers don't have what it takes to win a cup this year.

And the Stanley Cup is Unattainable in Philly with this current roster, but forsberg
id the player with th emost value and could get the parts the flyers need to have a
great run in the future 8-10 years.

I wish - I ONLY WISH! - that real-life NHL GMs, coaches and players gave up on their teams as quickly and easily as do fans. My Islanders might actually have a chance to win the Cup this year, let alone qualify for a playoff spot, were other teams quitting as readily as do their supporters.

"Pass the white flag, we haven't won the Cup by March 1st!"

Who's giving up? I gave my opinion that currently constituted this team has no shot
at the Stanley Cup In 2006.

I'm not ripping you, just amazed at the rapidity at which some look to make reactionary moves. Here's what I see, as an impartial observer:

Peter Forsberg TODAY remains arguably the best player on the planet.

Philly remains TODAY a very good squad, a sure playoff team.

Your team invested major dollars in key veteran players to win in the nearer-term.

You are currently lacking several key players due to injury.

It is March 2nd. The playoffs do not start for a month+. The trade deadline has not passed.

All that considered, it just seems pretty obvious that it would be much more logical to try to make the moves to improve this current team, await the return of injured players like Gagne, and try to WIN in spring 2006...as opposed to giving up the season and planning for the next decade.

This is the Philedelphia Flyers, not the Columbus Blue Jackets!

But perhaps it's just me.

What a way to get free agents to sign with Philly -- trade away the best (or second best) player in the world.

If you ever, ever, ever want to sign a high-profile free agent ever again, you do NOT trade Forsberg this year. Nobody would want to play for the fool who does that.

Yes, he's. Trade him to Colorado for Bob Boughner and bag of pucks.
