Seems Max and Thomas have worked out their passing differences pretty early. They looked pretty damned good on that last shift.

Soup fronted Sundin low and muscled Mats off the puck then came up ice on a nice rush --- pulled the Savardian spin-o-rama to set up Briere for a long bomb. It's be nice to see him get back to what we saw in December.

Buzzing so far... Roy is looking fired up with a couple runs along the boards.

Al on the right point with a nice wrister that almost connects. Great PP but no goal to show for it.

Poni scores... 1-1 Ugh.

Guys what's the score? Who has scored? Is miller in net and how is he playing so far after a shaky performance last time?

Drury and Roy for Buffalo, Ponikarovsky for the Leafs.

Tellqvist vs. Miller in nets.

Any chance LaFontaine would ever find his way onto a Sabres broadcast crew? He seems like a natural for that sort of thing.

1st period observations:

- Vanek and Roy seem to have worked out the kinks (as Chain mentioned), and have been dangerous all night. Great to see. Roy's goal a bit lucky, but good things happen when you go to the net.

- Great to see the immediate answer when Toronto got the equalizer. Giving up goals in that kind of situation (shots were 10-3 at that point I believe) can really turn things against the good guys, but Drury made sure it didn't happen.

- Briere's line doesn't seem to be getting a whole lot of ES time, although looking at the stats it just seems that they were hemmed in their own end a lot. Dumont looks slow, and for whatever reason Hecht doesn't seem to have that chemistry with those guys anymore. Personally, I would move Hecht back to Drury's line, and move Kotalik up to play with Briere and Dumont.

Good period overall, let's go Buffalo!
