Met Gino Odjick Yesterday !

I was dropping my friend ( who just arrived from Philadelphia, he'S a Rabbi ) off at this Yeshiva in Okha ( Place where he argues about Rabbis selling a goat 2500 years ago, and then they drink Vodka and Jack Daniels till they drop )

on my way back I stopped at a gas station to buy cigarettes and '' Diesel ''

and out of the blue this gargantuan Chevy Avalanche rolls up to another gasoline Stall...

and out comes this.... this.... what seemed Human Monster of a thing....

with short hair, Frankensteinish forehead and absolutely perfect teeth !

I falter back a bit thinking '' uh..... ''

Flashes of Clancy Brown .... from Highlander ( see attachment... )

So I go in cause yup you get it folks ... ( Visa don't work - the gy said demagnetized I say his machine is **** )

and start typing into his Interac.

Gargantuan footsteps behind me... hair raises on my back...

I hear a deep raspy reverby voice say : You from Philly ? ( My friends car has philly plates )

I turn around and say : uhhh , well ...

He says : I played there for a while !

Anyways ! we ended up talking for almost 45 minutes ! he is a heck of a teddy bear personality, we talked about Vancouver ( where he started his career ) and he told me this great story about Cliff Ronning who recently retired etc... etc... and how the guy is a hall of famer in his opinion. gave alot back to the community. I didn't ask him much about the Canadiens, he just said some people appreciated him others didn't and maybe things got a little out of hand he did say :

Maybe if Savard was more of a Hockey person, just like Gainey is , things would have gone differently , but Savard saw his case in a purely '' Business affair '' and thats why things happened that way, he said he had thought about the AHL, but everytime he's on the ice younger guys wanted to beat on him to make a name for themeselves and there wasn't any respect anymore.

Anyways we ended up having a smoke and being in Telecom industry I told him about my job etc... I tried not to bore him too much.

he's a great guy

and then I realise ohhhhh crap it's 9 PM, I have to go Mr. Odjick !

we shook hands, he crushed mine...

and I came out of it realising that I'd remember this probably for the rest of my life... ! meeting the Gentle Giant in Okha !

Just thought I'd share it with you guys !

Half of Vancouver has bumped into Gino, I saw him at the Silver City in Richmond last year, and that was like the 3rd time I saw him. Good story, I love Gino!!
