Hmm I wonder what the $ is like. IMO, Boucher has always been a solid top 4 guy that never gets enough credit.

Awesome news.. Boucher has been increasing his game for years now and has become a legit first pairing defenseman this season. The Stars have locked up their blueline for next season now.. Curious about the money though. He could easily get 3+ somewhere else..

I gotta think this spells the end for arnott in dallas. not that he will be traded, simply that i dont see how he can be resigned. If they do plan to keep arnott, they will most certainly have to buy out Guerin

I think they still want to resign Arnott. Guerin is gone.

Yeah im thinking guerin is gone either way (unless it really gets it going) Arnott has had an up and down year but obviously productive leading the team in points.

Guerin will be replaced internally by either Lessard or Erikkson if he continues his strong play. Arnott can only be replaced externally and is far more valuable

Is Guerin an impending UFA and if so, is there any chance he could be traded?

agree again, there is no center prospect remotely capable of being a good second line center. We certainly have several wing prospects who are promising.

nope guerin has another year left and his contract is 6.8 millionish and therefore noone would want to trade for him.

no, he's also signed for 06-07

i really hope Arnott isn't here in Dallas next season...yes he has a good season, but most of his goals are a result of Guerin's disability to score....Arnott isn't that good as his numbers are showing right now

i'd be glad if he is during the next few days

Excellent signing for Dallas. Phillipe showed flashes in his time in Buffalo and it's great to see the sort of complete player he's grown to be over the course of his career.

6.8 million is a huge price to pay for him. If he was a UFA I'm sure a lot of teams would be inquiring and the Stars could recieve a decent pick and a player. This is worst then Radek Bonk and Theodore .

$2.5 mil a year according to the link. great deal for the Stars. Now please buyout Guerin in the offseason.

2.5 is very cheap IMO.. Great deal indeed. If he tried, I'm sure he could have gotten the same or at least closer to Zubov's salary..

Indeed, he is very accomplished in both zones but he doesn't seem to get enough credit...just quietly gets the job done.

yeah the problem is tho, who do you replace arnott with? If we cant afford arnott we cant afford jokinen. Kapanen forgets he has hands for too long to be a second liner, barnes isnt a second liner, neither is ott.

Barnes could play 2nd line center, but it's not preferable.

Arnott also makes $3m, which is not chickenfeed. Since that's about the only positon we need to fill, that can be entirely devoted to that position.

$2.5m for Boucher is a bargain.

I believe he signed with the Stars for 2.185 a season when he joined us from LA, he then was still relatively unknown and untested. Sure we have a cap now and all, but we re-signed a top pairing defenseman for an extra 4k. Saweeet..
