Allan Muir's trade proposals

Hey, I just saw that SI's Allan Muir came up with some trade proposals. I looked them over and they're not bad.
Here
What are some thoughts on these?

- Hasek and Joseph wouldn't even talk to each other in Detroit.

- How does the DET - BOS deal work? It would put Detroit over the cap.

- I'd say the Wild get Short changed on their return for Mitchell AND Kuba.

Maybe not bad, but I wouldn't call them good either....

I can't see the Flyers (or anyone) giving up Steve Downie and a pick for Recchi.

8. Chicago deals Adrian Aucoin and a BAG OF PUCKS to Boston for Alexei Zhamnov and a THREE-COUNT PACKAGE OF STICK TAPE.

If only to get the bad taste of the off-season's two worst free-agent signings out of their mouths. Both teams will still be stuck with a bad contract, but at least it'll be a different bad contract.

Actaully, it's an all-star defenceman with a bad contract for a zombie with a bad contract. I'll take that deal any day of the week (A defence of Leetch, Aucoin, Stuart, Boynton, Jurcina, Gill, Alberts ---> ).

didn't Carolina deal send their first rounder in '06 to St. Louis in the Weight deal? this Muir guy has it as part of a deal to Toronto for McCabe. oops, i guess

also, i don't think the Rangers need to deal for 2 blueliners (Muir proposes that they acquire Kuba and Mitchell from Minnesota). maybe 1... but, still, they seem to be doing pretty well with what they have.

I'd be surprised if Chicago wanted Zhamonov back. While he and Aucoin are both having injury filled, disappointing seasons,Aucoin's been a productive workhorse the last several yrs.I expect he'll bounce back.I don't expect much from Zhamonov.

9. New York Islanders deal Mark Parrish to Edmonton for Brad Winchester and 2006 fourth-rounder.

Parrish is a reliable offensive contributor on the wing, a quality the Oil covets. The Isles have a glut of talent on the right side, and given Parrish's status as an impending UFA, they won't be afraid to move him for some youth.

Winchester is big and strong and could be a dependable third-liner for years to come. The fact that he was acquired with the second-rounder the Isles gave to Edmonton in the Eric Brewer-Roman Hamrlik trade gives this deal a nice symmetry.

this proposal's even weaker then the Aucoin Zhamonov proposal. Was Muir running out of ideas?

Isles have several younger, gritty forward prospects.I don't see them interested in trading a 23-30 goal scorer for a 25 yr potential 3rd liner.

All these deals do suck, especially that Aucoin for Zhamnov one

Boston deals Sergei Samsonov to Detroit for Jiri Hudler.

Overpayment for a rental who is not having a very good season.

I was thinking the same thing. What the heck is the point of a couple of non-playoff teams trading bad contracts?

Samsonov has had a bad career based on his "talent" and draft position. He's the mini-Kovalev.

I am intrigued by this proposal, but would have to turn it down. Samsonov would be adding strength to strength. Unless the Wings hit a terrible cold spell, his scoring will not benefit this team. Scoring is not an issue for them, so his production would be redundant. I'd prefer a player with slightly less offensive numbers, but much better defensive discipline.

If anyone gives Samsonov more than what he's making now in FA, they should be hit.

The Oiler deals are pretty good to me, as an Oiler fan. Other than that I thought they sucked.
