Not a game thread

I was noticing that Anaheim was playing tonight and had a 2 goal lead after 1 period.

The game is over and we still have a two goal lead! Hope we can hang on to it!

well it sounds like the line of andymac-feds- sykora played well all were a +2. but how did the other lines do?

I did a whole write up on every line on the "giguere playing vs sharks tonight" thread.

But if you're too lazy to go and click there, I'd say that the first was great, the second was just fine, the third line somewhat invisible (but not terrible) and the fourth line managed to not screw up (which is all I ask), although Krog had some nice moments.

Fedorov was great tonite. Sykora played well. Ozolinsh was as usual dangerous at both ends. Chistov had a good game, but the rest of the third line was pretty much invisible. Vishnevsky played hot potato with the puck. Prospal had some good chances. Fourth line was, well, the fourth line. Good all around game.

What the **** is up with the refs taking the faceoff outside the zone when Johnson, and then later Lupul, knocked the Sharks net off. It was obvious that they were pushed into it. I couldn't figure that out. And to make matters worse, the ref initially ruled that Lupul had intentionally knocked the Sharks net off. Why the hell would he intentionally knock the Sharks net off?

Well at least he came to his senses, and just took the faceoff outside the zone.

Yeah, I didn't understand either call. Very strange.

yeah...and then the linesmen dropped the puck on a faceoff when the Sharks guy wasnt even close to being in position and our player was surprised to see the puck and wasnt ready to do anything with it.

Sometimes they take the Hurry Up Faceoff Rule too far.

I think he was just emphatically pointing that the faceoff was out of the zone in response to Lupul's arguing. Joannette's an ass, they all are.

But you're right about Fedorov, he looked like a $10M guy tonight.

We win! I only saw the 1st period cause I fell asleep but what 2 great plays to get the goals. Feds fought his way through the check and fed a wide open Ozo. Beautiful play. Sykora finally gets on the board and he may start to heat up. Seems like things are starting to go our way, hopefully we can go on a streak now and catch up in the West to stay in the pack. Gerber made 34 saves so he was very solid and got some goal support unlike last year. Lets keep it going tonight with Giggy in net against a Flyers team that is also playing back to back.

Federov first goal as a Duck!!!
Ozolinsh and Federov seem to have good chemistry.

1-0 Ducks

I was thinking that too. Maybe we should try him at left wing (Ozo).

I love Prospal's goal celebrations!!!
2-0 Ducks.

Ward didn't waste a lot of time getting into his first fight of the season in his first game of the season!

Philly just got a goal, Eric Chouinard scored. Then Burnett gets into a fight. Missed the name of who he fought.

in a completely unrelated game topic,
Ozolinsh won't need to take iron supplements for a while
I hear he is getting more then his required dose of iron tonight

Also in a un game-related topic,
Vitaly Vishnevksi seems to be having a rest tonight and Lance Ward is apparently not having a rest (he seems to be not having a rest quite a bit in fact)

Giggy did look out of place on both goals IMO.

I don't see how you can fault him on the second goal. Perfect deflection by Jeremy. The first goal, eh, kind of a crazy play.
