Whether Ken Hitchcock wants to admit it or not...

...this IS a slump.

slump ( P ) Pronunciation Key (slmp)
intr.v. slumped, slump·ing, slumps

To fall or sink heavily; collapse: She slumped, exhausted, onto the sofa.
To droop, as in sitting or standing; slouch.
To decline suddenly; fall off: Business slumped after the holidays

I sure as hell don't see them moving anywhere but backwards in the standings.

Heh.

Calling this a "slump" would be like calling Australia "kind of a big island".

Hitch has lost this team, I'd like to see Clarke try coaching, its worked for the Devils
under Lou Lamoriello.

Well said. This is a slump, it's worse than a slump. This is an out-right freefall from heaven to hell.

yeah, that makes sense. have a guy that has never coached hockey at ANY level take over the team.

disregarding the fact that Hitch isn't going anywhere, Clarke has about the LEAST diplomatic personality i've ever seen in a public professional role. which is fine when you're "above the fray" so to speak, but about the last thing any team needs is someone like Clarke coaching the team and being in front of the media on a regular basis.

(Lou had been a coach previously... which is why that at least makes some sense)

It's part slump, part lack of talent...The team just isn't that good...as painful as it is to admit.

Come on Jester. I can respect the fact that you think Hitchcock is a great coach but at some point, you've got to start looking at maybe Hitch's message is lost on all these guys. I'm sure you've watched the past few games before and after the Olympic break and I've got to think that you aren't blind or naive and see that this team is falling apart at the seams. And I'm also pretty sure that you've gotta believe that the immunity that Hitch has had since joining the Flyers is beginning to wear out now. Questions need to be raised about Hitch's ability as a coach to deal with adversity. So far, he hasn't done a good job at dealing with adversity. Personally, if they tank (and it looks like they're in free fall), then I think it's time for an entire housecleaning, including Bobby. There's something seriously wrong with this team right now and they don't like they're going to pull through it. I don't think a trade could even shake up the team right now. This is the worst I've seen since '89-'90 and that's saying a lot.

Exactly.

Not that good when minus three Olympians.
