The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, Chowda Style

The Good -

- Marty was fantastic. It could've easily been 4 or 5-1 after one period and he made some outstanding stops in the 3rd -- 20 for 20.
- Hecht was an animal tonight -- knocked Boynton for a loop, hit two posts, scored and set up the Dumont and Briere goals.
- Danny and JP look to have the chemistry back. Danny won 9 of 10 draws and Dumont did a pretty good job up and down his wing. Great to see a little magic back from that trio.
- Coming back from 2 down to win, on the road, and in a game that they were clearly outperformed in on the second of back-to-back nights. Old Sabres, this one would've been a laugher for the Bruins. New Sabres... 2 points.

The Bad -

- Drury and Grier for the second straight visit to Boston looked too tense. Chris had a wonderful set up for the B's early in the first and both wiffed on what looked like easy clears later in the game. They've both had success there before --- it'd be nice to see them get over whatever is buggin' 'em soon.

The Ugly -

- What Biron's performance will do to the bandwagon over on the trade board. Meh.

Good: A healthy Sergei Samsonov. I know he couldn't cash in a few open net opportunities, but he had an excellent game all the way around. I'd be all over him if I were a GM craving for a spark up front.

Good:

- Gaustad's late faceoff win, followed by a shot block and he just dogged the puck until it was too late for the B's to do anything.

- The faceoff wins in particular were pretty impressive -- especially Briere who's average hasn't been a strength this season and his 9-of-10 won.

The Good -

- Marty Marty MArty. 20 stops in the third. Do we really HAVE to trade him?

- Briere/Hecht/Dumont. Last night it was Roy's line. These guys overlap so well and take over for each other in scoring. So cool to see a game like this, where the old Sabres would have never mounted a comeback.

The Bad -

- Seriously outplayed in the third. Usually "our period". Sabres gave up a lot of territory down low. Way too many shots on goal.

- Ottawa wins again. Leafs did us no favors.

The Ugly

- Tanabe's cheek. Wow, what a bruise. Hope there's no broken cheekbone there. Whay aren't these guys wearing visors?

When Marty let in those two goals in the first half of the period, I couldn't help but think "here we go again."

Wouldn't teams be watching Biron tonight? If he didn't play that well tonight would they lose interest, or would they still be going after him?

Good:
-Marty Biron. After not playing for well over a month, he comes out and makes 40 saves against a desperate Bruins team.
-Briere-Hecht-Dumont. Thank God Danny is back!
-Roy,Maxi, Vanek, as usual.
-Fitz had some decent breakups(I know ***!)

Bad:
-Going down 2 goals against a division opponet on the road. Yikes.
-Fitzy on the second Boston goal.
-Lydman on the first Boston goal.
-Hecht hitting iron 3 times.

Ugly:
-The first period and the first half of the third.

GOOD

-Marty
-Briere/Dumont/Hecht

BAD

-1st + 3rd period efforts
-Having Rory and Cambell on this defense. Cambell is getting worse IMO in our end.

UGLY

-hoping Laffs would beat the Sens

I went to the game: sat in the nose bleeds. There is always a very good bflo fan-base at Bruins games, I'm not sure why. Mostly trans-plants.

In any even, my good:

-Buffalo can come out and play crappy the first period, but turn it on when they need the 2 points.

This is a good team we have on our hands, so much so that I don't think we really appreciate how good these players and team are.

I thought Roy/Max/Vanek were absolutely brutal tonight...

I could have sworn that Boston fired Sullivan a couple of months ago.

In any case, a very very good game from Biron once he got rid of the dust on his game. The way the D was playing the first period, though, it seemed like they were trying to submarine his trade value.

I was drooling all over Gaustad's play that final shift. My gut was telling me that Boston scores if they win the draw.

Just an overall satisfying win. This team continues to impress.

He was very close, but had that happened, they would have had to can a GM as well.

He brought more sand tonight than we've seen of late -- certainly stronger on his take-outs and imposing his frame on their D.

I didn't see the game (was at Bandits game)

Good:

- Two points.
- Hecht/Dumont/Briere erupt
- Marty!!!
- John Tavares becoming the all time leading scorer in NLL history

Bad:

- I missed 80% of the game

Ugly:

- The Bandits losing to ****ing Minnesota on the night Tavares breaks the record.

Good:

- Bottom line, this win epitomized what this team has been about this year: character, toughness, and great goaltending. And, if you notice, all of the above have come from numerous sources on our team. Depth

- Good for you, Marty. Couldn't be happier.

Bad:

- Wasn't impressed with the officiating to be honest. Way too inconsistent.

Ugly:

- The Thornton trade for Boston. Simply put, this is a game Boston would've won with Big Joe in the lineup. Not a doubt in my mind that he'd bury one of the team's 40+ SOG- or at least set up someone to do so.

The GOOD:

-Marty! Marty! Marty! Stole 2 points with the help of....
-the little guy, Danny Briere. JP and Hecht too.
-Faceoff domination - Nice clutch win late by the rookie Goose.
-Coming back from 2 goals behind to win 3-2. Lovely.
-Winning when you deserve to lose. 3rd game in 4 nights. Gutsy.
-Continuing to rack up points and maintain the heat on the Sens.
-Seeing the Leafs fall apart and show that they may well be one of the worst teams in the NHL right now.

The BAD:

-Tanabe's face. Ouch.
-Kotalik. Starting to look like the preseason thoughts of him not having a spot on the team may come to fruition come playoff time.
-Getting outplayed.
-I have never been sold on Raycroft. Tonight he was BAD imo.

The UGLY:

The really Ugly:

No satellite signal for the entire third period. Talk about being pissed off.

I don't agree. Bruins needed the vets that came back the other way far more than they needed Mighty Joe, who, FYI, hasn't done all that much to improve SJ, though Chechoo is enjoying hacing him as a center much in the same way Murray has.

I tried direct tv and Dishnetwork, and now just go with plain old digital for this exact reason. For me, I would lose the satellite signal if it dropped below 20 degrees.

SJ has done pretty well out of the trade when looking at their record... trouble is, in that time they played a big chunk of games against the East, which they totally dominated... they can't make up any ground in their own conference.

Sturm, Stuart and Wayne have really helped out in Boston as well, I'm hoping to see them take later than Mid-April... if only the Sharks could beat the top teams in the West, it'd be one of those cases where the trade was a winner for both teams.

Oh btw, quick addition to the good...

The goals were SWEET.

None of the ugliness, no redirections... 3 sweet, tape-to-tape goals.
