The thing is that Mark Bell is not really better defensively. He is bigger and more physical than Ryder but that's about it.His upside his probably higher though.

we pickup so ya I would be willing to part with first rounder if we get top four defencemen, it could help long term, if not this year.

Draft is very weak, and we've rebuilding like six years now, draft is weak thjis time around trading weak pick isn't bad idea!!!

Bulis.

Future UFA, his value is high: time to trade him.

You don't deal a R shooting goal scorer. We have a goal scorer, who finds the net, and somehow, he needs to be dealt, because...

On the other hand, if Gainey does believe in the "If it aint broke, dont fix it" theory, what if the team starts losing after the deadline anyways... or what if the team starts looking weak in the playoffs? Then Gainey will get crucfied in the media for not making a move at the deadline.

Its a little bit of a no win situation for Gainey, I think.

Dont get me wrong, anytime the team is winning is a good time, but it just gives Gainey more to think about when the team is winning in the week of the trade deadline.
That's not such a bad position in the sense that he can totally ignore the media, and go with what he really thinks will work.
Not that I have any doubt he'd do that anyway.

Plekanec , may be ?

He's a complete player and is also a hard worker with ethic . I am not as high about him than most of the Habs fans , because i am still not sold on his offensive game . Also , he 's playing a little bit as Koivu , and i don't think it would be a great idea to get 2 first centers that are small and playing big ; it's too risky .

May be Plekanec is having a value because his good work and his skills . Anyway , i wouuld trade him before Higgins and Perezhogin , and by far ...

I actually think we (Bob) can let go a first round pick since our rookie core is very intersting and close to it's "on ice maturity". Plekanec, Higgins, Perezhogin, Kostitsyn, Chipchura, Emelin, Latendresse and cie. should all be helping the team in a near future, the rest of the team isin't that old; Markov, Bulis, Ribs, Koivu, Kovalev, Rivet, Bouillon, Souray should also have great years to give the organization.

Sooooo... giving up a first round pick (that wouldn't help us in a near future, but would for a team in reconstruction) for an intersting player wouldn't be a catastrophy for the developementof our organization... but again, drafting a solid D in 2006 would be nice.
