Star Gazing
  • Dallas is 72-6-6 when leading after the 1st Period since Dave Tippett took over as Stars head coach three seasons ago. Dallas is 20-1-1 this season.
  • Dave Tippett is 123-61-28-9 as the head coach of the Dallas Stars with the 7-2 win over Chicago Sunday.
  • With seven goals againist the Hawks, Dallas has now kept from being shut out in 77 consectutive games. Dallas's last shut out was againist Detroit in the 03-04 season on March 13th, in a 3-0 game. In the Stars' 61 games this season, only three teams (Detroit 4-1, Phoenix 4-1, Minnesota 2-1) have kept the Stars from scoring atleast two goals in the game. This is the longest the team has gone without being shutout since they moved to Dallas in 1993. The previous mark was held by the inaugural 1993-94 Dallas Stars squad who were first shutout in their 38th contest of the season. The franchise mark for consecutive games from a start of a season without being shutout is held by the 1982-83 team who were shutout only once and that came in their 79th game.
  • The Dallas Stars are now 8-0 in shootouts this season, having beaten Colorado in Denver on Nov. 5 (2-0), the Sharks in San Jose on Nov. 12 (2-0), the Hurricanes on Dec. 2 (2-1) in Dallas, the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim on Jan. 6 (2-1) in Dallas, the Boston Bruins on Jan. 14th (1-0) in Boston, the Blues on Jan. 25th (2-0) in Dallas, the Avalanche in Denver on Jan. 26th (2-1), and the Red Wings on Jan. 28th (3-2) in Dallas. Jussi Jokinen is eight for eight during the shootouts and Marty Turco is 13 of 16 in net for the Stars. Dallas is the only team remaining in the NHL that has not lost a shoot out
  • When trailing after one period, the Stars are 11-12-2 on the season. And when trailing after two periods, the Stars are now 8-14-1 on the season. The 11 wins when trailing after 1 period is the best in the NHL this season and the 8 wins when trailing after 2 periods is also the best in the NHL this season. Dallas has won 22 games this season when falling behind some point during the game.
  • Dallas is 12-1-1 this season when scoring four goals, and 16-0-0 when allowing one goal. The Stars also have posted a 38-4-2 record this season when allowing three goals or less. Their record is the third best in the NHL.
  • The Stars will play a total of 15 back-to-back series in 2005-06. The Stars are currently 18-6-0 in games included in back-to-backs this season. The Stars dominated Colorado Saturday 5-3 and will face Chicago Sunday. The Stars are 9-3-0 in the first game while 9-3-0 in the second.
  • Dallas' win over the Chicago Blackhawks, gave the Stars their 40th win of the season. The 40 wins in a season was Dallas' 9th 40 win season in just 12 seasons. In Minnesota, the North Stars never once had a 40 win season. Dallas has hit 50 wins once in their francise history when they hit 51 wins during the 98-99 Cup winning season.
  • In each of Dallas' six past games, one team has scored atleast 5 goals. Dallas being on that end twice.

The National Hockey League, in conjunction with the Dallas Stars and American Airlines Center, announced on Monday, January 23 that the Dallas Stars will host the 2007 NHL All-Star Celebration, January 22-24, 2007, at American Airlines Center and venues throughout the area. Too much playing in our zone guys. Come on now. Big rebound and Smyth just punched it in. It's 3-2 Dallas.

STARS WIN!

Of course the shoot out win strikes again.

Juicy 9 for 9 in the shoot out. 1 for 1 in the penalty shot.

Dallas overall 9-0 in the shoot out. Should've never been there but whatever. Stars win again and move 2 points closer to Detroit, as the Wings lost tonight.

Im just amazed that Jussi was able to use the same move twice tonight. I thought for sure he was gonna break out whatever 3rd move he has in the shootout.

Agreed Chaos.

I think this is all overshadowing Zubov also though! He's 6 for 9 in the shoot out. Beat all goalie all 9 times, just missed the net once, hit the post twice.
