I don't follow every team that closely, but I can guess on a couple

From Toronto- Peter Franchin (good fit for an OA, seeing as how Toronto is loaded with 86's)
From Ottawa- Robbie Lawrance
From Oshawa - Phil Mcllhone
From London - Jamie VanderVeeken

That's all I got right now

I wouldn't waste an overage spot on Vanderveeken, I don't mind him as a depth player, but an expansion team will have a wide range of overagers to choose from.

I'm not thrilled at the prospects of the league becoming more watered down.

From London Andrew Wilkins might be an option.

Don't see Wilkins going anywhere, London will need him for sure. Rediker's knee brace however...

In this 'scenario' you're only allowed to protect so many players and it would have no berring on this season. Such a draft would happen in the offseason.
Wilkins is a spare part next year:

Pelech - Aarssen
Crawford - Syvret
Martinelli (maybe OA) - Traccito/Noyes/Wilkins

Maybe even a 16 year old from the upcoming draft or a new Import could be thrown into the mix for London's blueline next year.

Knights D next year will be very good...

Pelech - Aarssen
Halasz(if he stays for oa year) - Crawford
Syvret - Martenelli
with Traccito, Wilkins, 1st round selection (mccrae's kid?), and others on the side... With these guys getting time when trades happen

BUT, come trade deadline or even sooner i can see the knights dealing Pelech, and getting a wealthy return, then dealing Martenelli too... honestly he's deserved the oa season next year... in the event of expansion how many players do teams have to not protect from the pro roster, i could prolly go almost team for team and let you know...

Alright were going on the assuption if their is expansion they follow these simple rules "In previous Expansion Drafts the number has been 15 players on the PPL. 15 and 16-year-old players are exempt from this draft." I will do this team by team throughout the next week... starting right now with the London Knights

Protect - Steve Mason, Cory Syvret, Andrew Wilkins, Matt Pelech, Scott Aarssen, Adam Perry, Jordan Foreman, Sergei Kostitsyn, Rob Drummond(oa), Matt Clarke, Josh Beaulieu, David Bolland(oa), Matt Davis, Ryan Martenelli(oa), and Trevor Kell(oa)

Un-Protected - Kris Belan(oa), Jamie Vanderveeken(oa), Chris Ferguson, Rob Schremp(oa), David Halasz(oa/euro), David Jarram, Chris Wall(oa)

This is what the list would probably look like... now in saying that... If the Knights rumours are true and they have released Matt Davis or dont want him anymore, then switch David Halasz into the protected list, if he stays in north america the Knights could trade him and get something cause of experience instead of lose him for nothing... if an expansion team was selecting from this list then Chris Ferguson would probably be the best pick he's still relatively young being an 1988 birth, was a previous second rounder of the Saginaw Spirit but has always been buried in the lineup as pretty okay size and skating and I think he just needs a good chance, but if Matt Davis is in that unprotected list no question select Matt Davis, he's fast gritty, nose for the net, gets hard working goals, reminds me alot of Steve Downie, has some off-ice issues but probably comes with maturity...

More teams to come soon!

I'd say from Owen Sound it would either be Jeff Moor (d) or Colin Hanley (f).

SARNIA STING

Protect - Mark Katic, Steve Ferry, Matt McCready, Kody Musselman, Chad Painchaud(oa), Kody Musselman, Harrison Reed, Richard Clune, Kyle Tront, Ryan McInerney, Parker VanBuskirk, Tomas Pospisil, Jared Gomes, Tyson Aitcheson, Daniel Lombardi

Un-Protected - Steve Savor, Brandon Mashinter, Danny Anger, Thomas Policelli, Chris Chimienti(oa), Tomas Sample, Scott Boomsma

This team was pretty hard to do cause they have a ton of 88's, Anger and McInerney could easily be switched... which would sit fine with any expansion team... I'm sure they'd aim at either Anger/McInerney...

It was released publicly that he was released/or sent home for the year... due to off-ice issues... of course he's not gunna admit it just to kids at his school...

I heard that the fracture was discovered later. I also heard that he was sent home for "off ice" issues for conduct. Any inside info on the timing or otherwise?

there's no way that Sarnia would give up Mashinter... switch in Musselman for Mashinter, Musselman was a bust, all he does is fight, Mashinter can do that and help the team offensively and takes alot less stupid penalties, i agree with everything else, McInerney wouldn't be moved he was brought in for Trevor Solomon he's good 2way, can pass the puck and win faceoffs, Anger isn't bad but he's a faceoff/PK specialist, and he tries to be a fighter and doesn't do a that good of a job at it it would be Aitcheson/Anger if anything

Do you mean Bryan Young? If so, no. He's one of the leagues best defencemen, he wouldn't go to an expansion team. Neither would quite a few other players you list like Perry, Garlock, Didiomete. They are valuable players that could get a nice return in a trade.

For the Petes, I'd say one of Justin Soryal, Justin Caruana or Scott Cowie. My guess, Soryal. As far as the other teams I mentioned goes, I have no idea, I just know the guys you mentioned wouldn't be given up for nothing.
