Who here wants to claim Morrison?

I think we should so we can keep Harding in Houston at least for the rest of the year

Wow, nice return there. I certainly would have dealt Weekes for a 1st rounder as well.

Now we get to start thinking about what we do with that pick. Grab another mid-first round prospect? Package the two 1sts to move up? How far up you think we could move? Draft is rumored to be not as deep in the first this year.

Packaging up the first rounder with a defenseman, we could get a nice reward for that. Minnesota has had some success in the draft, especially the first two rounds.

I don't know much about the major junior guys, but I know after Okposo the Minnesota talent really drops off when compared to previous years. CSB is ranking Fisher and Sneep in the 20s and 30s overall, and those guys don't look as solid as guys who went in the 2nd and 3rd round in the two most recent drafts.

Or we could use the pick and add depth...I'd like to see a couple d-men in the 1st. Pouliot was a gift last year, time to fine tune IMO.

Congrats, great trade from your GM.
Horrible trade by Lowe....
You get a #20 pick and perhaps a 3rd round pick for a 36 year old Backup that would have been an UFA

Surprising

It's surprising that they made a trade with Edmonton of all teams: a virtual admission that the Wild is out of it. A first rounder for a free agent goalie who hasn't been that sharp this year is a great return. Sean O'Donnell is the only free agent deadline discard who the Wild has gotten much value for over the years. Usually its been fourth round picks.

I've always liked Roloson, as well as the whole Wild organization, but damn did you guys make out like bandits in this trade! Jeez, 1st rounder, not bad at all.

as of right now we have both the 13th and 18th pick(someone correct me if I'm wrong) and we either add depth to our Org with them, sensible thing to do since no one is a sure thing, or we package those two picks and move up as far as we can and get a guy that will ahve a fairly large role with our team in 2-3 years. Without knowing specific players in this draft all that well (other than its regarded as a weak yeay) I think we trade up and get a good Defensemen, someone who can be a top 4 guy and will replace Mitchell & Kuba in 4-5 (if they are still around). We have our young offensive stars waiting in the wings and a young stud goalie, but our defense needs help with only Thelen and Stoner as legit NHLers, but even they might not be top 4 guys so I say bring in some help

So the situation now is as follows? Correct me if I'm wrong...
The Wild have 2 first-round picks in the NHL draft 2006 - the pick of Edmonton and their own pick.

a friggen first rounder for a friggen back up

this deal will blow up in the oilers face

manny was the man

Rolo is a back up and the oilers are done

what a joke!!!!

The oilers wasted a first rounder

Doug R just hosed K Lowe

Over a 9th rounder for Hemsky

Lowe will take

Did Lowe give Doug his wife aswell--

from the oilers point of view it was a bad trade

Minny hosed the oilers

No, from youre point of view. From the Oilers point of view, great deal - got a goalie without giving up a roster player or a prospect.

From Minny point of view, great deal - got something for an impeding UFA.

jumptheshark, if you keep posting that often enough, maybe someone will believe it! Bitter, much?

I just came here to ask Wild fans about Roloson. What can we expect? We've been let down time and time again because of our goaltending; so I'm happy we got him, but can Wild fans tell us more info please? I'm not fishing for you guys to say good things, I wanna know the good and the bad.

Thanks so much!

Good positional guy. Doesn't usually need to make the big acrobatic save. When he's on, he just sucks the puck in like a vacuum and doesn't leave dangerous rebounds. Hasn't gotten much in the way of support from the team this year, and I think that hurt his confidence a bit. Also possible that because of his strong positional skills it's been harder to adapt to the changed dimensions, but that's just me guessing. Hasn't looked as good this season. Doesn't like guys in his crease. Not afraid to use the stick and complain to the refs.

I've always liked Roloson. Several years ago, he was a journeyman. Then he got some confidence and was dominant. Back in '02-03, he took over the Wild's first playoff series against Colorado and led us to a win.

In '03-04, he was arguably a top-5 goalie with a save % over .93 and a GAA under 1.9 over 50 games.

Moral of the story is that he can be streaky, but when his game is on, he can be an excellent goalie. I honestly believe that he could lead the Oilers deep into the playoffs if he has his confidence. He's got the talent and smarts for it.

Both sides benefit with this trade. If you think the Oilers got hosed, just take a look at their record. They're right in the thick of the playoff race with below average goaltending. Roloson may not be THE best in the NHL right now but at least he bumps the Oilers' goaltending up to the average range or slightly above that.
