WHOA!

Aren't the Rangers making a cup run? This smells like clearing up ice time for a future acquistion...

Strange trade.

Rangers lose grit, become a softer team for the playoffs.

San Jose parts with a 3rd round pick for a grinder when they have an uphill battle to go through just to get to the 8th playoff spot.

You people complaining about thread starting, read the sticky in the Trades forum... thread starting is restricted until deadline is over.

Anyway, Rangers not happy with Niemo?

Jagr, Straka, Nylander, Prucha, Rucinsky, Sykora, Rucchin, Ward, Betts, Moore, Ortmeyer, Hossa, Hollweg.

I think it is just a traffic jam.

This is for next year...we're out of the playoffs. But this is a good pickup considering we desperately need a checker/energy/heart guy.

Read the bottom paragraph in the text. It's just a note so far.

Nieminen was getting pretty significant ice time though, wasn't he?

I think someone else is on the way...

i don't understand that ranger trade, unless they pick up someone else. why would you trade a solid grinder for a pick in the midst of a playoff run?

I've liked Nemo for a long while, and was happy when he signed for the Rangers.

BUT, he hasnt really shown to be the old Nemo this season.

He's struggled in the 'new' NHL, and seems to take too many dumb penalties.

Still, he's a good guy for the playoffs, where I guess maybe the officiating may be slacker again.

So not sure about the trade, but Nemo really hasn't been all that for the Rangers this year. He certainly hasn't been a key part of the Rangers good season to now.

And here I thought he had been a healthy scratch recently. Clear it up for us Ranger fans!

Not a big fan of this move for the Sharks. Nieminen is more of a liability than an asset. He really isn't that "gritty" either, just a pest.

okay, I guess that makes sense. I was assuming that Nieminen was a UFA this summer.

he's been a healthy scratch for a few games this season. Including the last game.

He was definitely visible when the Rangers last player the Sabres, but that was about a month ago. Still a strange trade.

I would not call what he specializes in "grit". Third team in 2 or so years now, that should tell you something. Glad that bum is out of the east now.

Rangers must be getting something better...
