Besides, you don't sign a guy who's slated to become a UFA mid-season then deal him 20 games later. Not if you want to have any luck signing any other players ever again.

Does anyone knows where I could find a list of all the players under contract with montreal(lenght & $).

It would help to analyse this a little better..

Aebischer is better then Giguère and costs half his salary. I'd rather we use the extra money on a good player.

don't panic !

nobody said that he will be trade ; just a question about the NTC . And i think that you are wrong . It is for the new contract , not for the one he has now .

Really?

Aebischer, season: 25-14-2 2.98GAA .900% - 3-1-0, 1.72, .938 in last 4 games

Giguere, season: 18-9-11 2.64 .913% - 3-1-1, 2.17, .938 in last 5 games

You cannot seriously argue Ducks goaltenders have better team infront of them, so I would say those numbers are in its in J-S favor. Also consider he actually has some positive playoffs experience, bringing Ducks very close of winning Stanley Cup quite recently.

Please, please, please don't tell me that last sentence would end with the word 'Goaltending'

It will be interesting to see if Abby is part of the plans for the next few months or if he gets re-traded before he arrives in Montreal. Roll on trade deadline

Why don't we add Huet or Abi to that deal and take Luongo off their hands as well. Seams a bit more fair dont you think? Jokinen being a UFA and all. We can add a conditional pick if he signs a contract with us.

You're suggesting Huet or Abby, Zednik, Ribeiro and a pick for both Luongo and Jokinen, is that right? Personally, I dont think that gets us close to getting those 2 players. Not sure we could get away with trading enough for those 2 right now.

Keenan has told Muckler that Jokinen is no longer on the market.

Well considering that Zednik, Ribeiro and a pick for Jokinen alone is IMO overpayment for a UFA what do you think would be a good price for both players?

from Insiders ;

'' The Habs have also made an offer to the Canucks where they would send Abby and a prospect to the Canucks for Todd Bertuzzi. The Habs also have contacted the Lightning to see if they are interested in Abby. The Lightning tried to get Abby from the Avs before he was dealt off to the Habs. ''

I'll take a stab at this but be warned, I don't know enough about what florida would want in return so this may be way off base (but then again, as like yours, this is just my opinion). Firstly, the guys you propose we send the other way in Zed and Ribs. Zed is not at his highest value just now so i think that if we were to send scoring players then Florida would probably want someone more along the lines of Ryder or maybe Zed and one of our prospects (Pez, Higgs, Pleks or Kost). Ribs, i'm not sure about, would Keenan want this guy? And even if he did accept Ribs as part of the trade, I can't see his value being that high either.

If we are going to try and take Floridas top center (and captain, if Olli is still their captain) and goalie away from them, personally I think we would have to give up a lot, regardless of impending UFA status. I think the UFA status thing doesn't hold as much power for the team trying to aquire them because they are both very good players playing positions lots of teams want help in. If we were to offer something along the lines of your proposal, i can see other teams willing to bid more. If I was to make an offer to Florida that i thought was fair (not that I would actually do it though) then it would be something more along the lines of:
Huet or Abby, Ryder, Rivet or Souray, a top prospect or Zednik and our 1st round pick. Probably even a little more. I'm not convinced this would be enough, maybe too much quantity, not enough quality for Floridas liking, I still think there would be teams willing to offer more/better than this. We would have to offer up some key pieces of our team to acheive the trade which i think would be too high a price (for example, i wouldn't want to move one of our top prospects just yet and they may want a guy like Markov).

anyways, thats just my view on it. There is a post just above saying Olli is no longer on the market. Would that just be before the deadline or might that apply to the off-season too? If he is available during the off-season, I'd like to see us make an attempt for him then, sooner than that and i think a proposal like (or similar) yours for him alone might be possible but if we want Luongo too, I personally can't see a trade like that happen.
