Donata vs Grosek

I think Teddy Donato should be in the lineup over Grosek. he adds more depth. He can take faceoffs and he's not bad at them...and he can kill penalties if needed. Plus he wont make dumb plays or take dumb penalties like Grosek...Maybe not as tuff...but dont really need that much more tuff guys.

Obviously we have 4 VERY solid lines...Logjams will be created when Zamuner finally returns. A trade for a D-man would go a LONG way to pushing this team over the hump.

Knuble-Thornton-Murray
Samsonov-Zinovjev-Lapointe
Axelsson-Rolston-Bergeron
Donato/Zamuner-Green-McCarthy

and just for fun...are these the PP units?
Knuble-Thornton-Murray-McGillis-Jillson
Samsonov-Bergeron-Lapointe-Rolston-Boynton

I also like Donato..as a depth guy only.
I didn't like the idea of Donato maybe as our 3rd line center before camp though!...water under the bridge now!
I understand the idea of Grosek over Donato but think Sullivan likes having Donato around as well.
Look for him to dress over Grosek some games as well.
...but when Zamuner comes back both could be in the press box more often.

I like your lines and think Lapointe would work on that line ok..

I posted this before yesterdays game and will do so again...I like lines of...
Samsonov/Zinovjev/McCarthy
Knuble/Thornton/Murray
Zamuner/Green/Lapointe
Axelsson/Rolston/Bergeron

with Donato and Grosek in for Zamuner until he returns...

The lines of Zinovjev/Thornton/Rolston to score and Green's to check the other top lines.
I think a checking line of Zamuner/Green/Lapointe would be very physical and solid at the same time...add in Green is good at faceoffs and has size down the middle.
Lapointe adds more toughness and Zamuner is a very good 3rd line type of LW'er.
You couldn't count out the idea of this line getting a few goals either!...but it would be the ugly types for sure!

On you PP setups...good as well.
Maybe slip Zinovjev in for Lapointe at times but overall we have some good options for sure.
The other nice part of those PP units is...that it still leaves us guys like Zamuner/Axelsson/Donato/Green and maybe Lapointe tha might be fresh after a couple of PP's if a PK is needed and both units are tired.

This is close to as balanced a lineup we have seen up front for a long time.

A little tweek on the blueline and we will be in real good shape this season.
MOC should see that with Raycroft/Jillson/Zinovjev/Bergeron all coming of age has added the fact that this team could compete now...lets hope he is looking around for a blueliner for possible upgrades...also lets not forget we have a few good guys on D in the AHL that could be used laters in this season.

Things are looking up...for sure!

When Zamuner comes back I'd have to think that Grosek will be the odd man out- on the 4th line. I like Grosek, but just dont see room for him or Donato unless injuries happen.

I think we'll see a 4th line of Green, McCarthy and Zamuner. That would give us a real veteran presence on that line, and all 3 guys could be good for 8-12 goals each......a huge upgrade from Stock and his 1-2 goals a year on that line.

This group of forwards seems to have the most balanced attack Boston has had in 15+ years, imo. Even better than when we had Ally and Guerin. -Piels

IMO Zamuner should be in the line-up over Donato anyday of the week but for certain games I would rather have Grosek dress over both Zamuner and Donato...

I'd rather have Grosek than Donato.

I'd rather have Stocker back up than Donato. He isn't the liability everyone makes him out to be.

Compare last year- GP-G-A-Pt-+/-

Donato- 49-2-1-3--1
Stock-71-1-9-10--4

You Know What I Want

Obvious what I want to see:

Now...

Thornton- Knuble- Murray
Zinovjev- Samsonov- Lapointe
Rolston- Axelsson- Bergeron
Green- Grosek- McCarthy

HEALTHY Line-Up

Thornton- Knuble- Murray
Zinovjev- Samsonov- Lapointe
Rolston- Axelsson- Bergeron
Green- Zamuner- McCarthy

Grosek- spelling Zamuner and McCarthy, as well as spelling other forwards as well from time to time.

I firmly believe in the concept of EVERYONE getting a day off once in a while...regardless of whether you are Donato or Thornton.

ALL players can benefit from a day off.
