The Post-Olympic Richard Zednik appreciation thread

He's been great (minus a couple dumb penalties) since the Olympic break. Cut the guy some slack, guys.

I agree. Zednick is playing some good hockey since his return from the Olympics. He's always giving the 2nd effort and he has alot of scoring chances. Let just wish he keeps playing like this for the remaining of the season.

Zed is a guy who shines at this time of the season. He's strong as hell too on the puck, hard to remove, which gets the other team taking penalties trying to stop him.

So glad we never traded him.

Now, if only Ryder could get back to were he was last year and Sundstrom gets replaced by Murray...

I don't recall ever bashing Zed. Guys who step up in the playoffs have my respect.

I think he finally figured out how to play in the new NHL. No more hooking and gliding/waterskiing with the defenceman. Just keep your feet moving and you'll get chances.

Good for him and us.

Agreed. I'm also concerned about Markov right now. Something is bothering him.

He said "I know your favourite player is Slava Fetisov, but... Just dump it in. [No need to be fancy]. I know you can do it, I've seen you do it plenty."

He was being sarcastic.
"I know kozlov(I forgot the name...) is your favorite player....but just get the puck in..I know you can do the moves...I've seen you do it....blah blah blah"

Translation: "Stop trying to be fancy. Do the simple things"

Good thread, and I concur. Zednik looks like he's in playoff mode. He was crap at the Olympics as well - what the hell happened on that plane ride back?

He's using his speed and leg strength to sheild the puck effectively. He is trafficing the back of the net quite a bit and has been getting some good shots away. He is finishing his checks and making sure they hurt the other player. But just as Zednik began to warm up, Bulis began to cool off....

Markov? Markov is playing great. He makes it look so easy out there, awlays makes a great pass and can seperate guys from the puck.

Zed is playing really well, too. He always steps it up when push comes to shove. Tough to play his style for 82 games.

I almost choked when I saw this thread... please.. Zednik is a shell of himself ever since MacLearn laid him out with that sucker elbow.

Gainey should have traded him for a pick and a 2nd tier prospect.

I hope we see him gone over the summer.

Markov is my favorite player on the team. He's been the MVP in my book. But he's not been the same since the olympic break. I'm sorry I dont agree with you.
2 points is his last 8 games. He's been giving away the puck more then usual and having to compensate by hooking and taking a few penalties. I'm sorry but that's not the standards I'm used to see him play by.

I shared your opinion just last week. But the last 3 games I've seen the old Zed. Drawing penalties and creating scorring chances. I still want to get rid of him next year if possible cause I dont want to live thru an other year like this. But if he plays like that the rest of the year....we're in buisness.

If Pedneault is right, and I don't see why he would be wrong on this one, Markov is hiding an injury, to his wrist.

Markov got banged up all Olympics . He's also banged up with the Habs . Give the guy a break , he's still a rock out there and our best d-men by far . He's been so usufull this year . The guy didn't get 2 days off in a looonnnggg time . Just because his quality play dropped a bit recently donsent mean he wont recover he's been the most consistent Habs this year .
