I never understood why the organization let him slip away.
They were never going to call him up and he wanted a shot, and I'm guessing he may have had some issues with the Monarchs front office over that. His level of play had tailed off; might have been due to him being unhappy with the organization. He liked to play hard and drop the gloves, and it seemed that the team told him to knock that off.
I think Joe's departure was mutual, and in light of that I'm more than a little surprised to see him back. The fans of the minor league club he had been playing with (Hartford Wolf Pack) won't be sad to seem him leave. His heart wasn't into their game. I think the next couple of weeks are going to be interesting having Joe back in the mix, and I don't know yet whether that's "interesting good" or "interesting bad".
