I dont think they planned on him passing away so soon....

Hope the Habs players realize from this sad day, is that Heart and Dedication is what makes you a player.....not the salary you receive. I have no doubt in my mind, that Bernie would have wanted to continue with the retiring of his number. He'll be there.....

It was his wish to do this on March 11 because it was the same day the Montreal forum was turned into a shrine where a memorial was held for Howie Morenz, his father in law.

You were one of the greatest habs of all time... and for that, any and all hab fans are incredibly grateful...
Now, you celebrate not just A stanley cup victory, but 24 of them, including more that we dont even know of... With other hab greats who preceded you to the rink...
If heaven is what I think it is... I'll see you on the ice Bernie... you wont freak me out with the boom from your stick though

My condolences go to the entire Geoffrion family, they lost one heck of a character... and tonight instead of lamenting... I really hope it is a celebration of who Bernie is... and what he meant to our organization over the past 45 years

I am sure Boom-Boom and the Rocket will have some fun tonight, with the return to glory this game is to les habitants. Tonight, we right a wrong (Boomer is getting his jersey hung where it should have been for many years), we get something returned to us (the legacy of St Patrick, which can be found from the tutelage Aebischer had when he first arrived in the NHL)... and we celebrate Bernie's larger than life personality...
A crux game in our franchise no doubt

Considering that today was supposed to be a day of celebration for this man, it is an absolute shame he had to pass today.

Rip Boom Boom, one of the Canadiens greats

It is so sad to see Boom Boom pass away like this. As a Bruins fan I had all the respect and admiration for him and the way he played the game.

I lived in NY for many years and had Rangers season tickets. I remember how much the fans loved him even in his declining years.

God bless and keep you Bernard. You will long be remembered

Could somebody explain to me exactly what was the "feud" between himself and the organisation leading to the delay of today's ceremony?

RIP Boom Boom, one of the greatest players ever. Condolences to his family, tonight will be a very tough night for all of them.

I hope that as many people as possible use the Geoffrion avatar for tonight's game, it would be a nice homage to him and to what he did for this franchise.
