If Markov hurt, play Simpson or Streit?

I would go with Streit since we should use for PP and just to get him going after his good performance in the Olympics. He sure deserves another shot before a decision is make about him.

Hopefully we will not have to choose between those two, but if we have, which one would you go for?

Streit deserve a shot. He was great at the olympics. And he's been improving all year.

Streit. He's done all he could in the time given to him- still trying to adjust even... had a fine Olympics. Put him in already.

"heart" says Streit, mind says Simpson... the point position on PP can be filled by Kovalev, and Souray is playing GREAT lately... but we need someone to be reliable in front of his net, and unfrotunatly it's Streit's weakness.

So my choice would be Simpson.

If he's only missing a very small number of games, I'd say Streit. Otherwise, I'd get Simpson in there from time to time. I don't have enough confidence in Streit's (or Simpson's) ability to play at a high level for an extended period of time, so the coaches will have to find the right balance. I really, really, really hope Markov is back ASAP.

Thought about it a bit.....Streit is a much better puck mover then Simpson. If we lose markov we need to replace him by a puck mover.

Markov isin't only the best puck mover on the team, but also the best defencive D... Sheldon and Craig are doing good, Bouillon can move the puck. On PP Kovalev can help too...

The most important thing right now is our defencive game... Streit dosen't help here. I like this guy, and dislike Simpson, but still you can be sure Simpson won't fall down in the corner.

My choice would be Streit. The best formula for success with a defensive corps is this. Three rugged defensemen complimented by a trio of mobile defensemen.

If Komisarek, Rivet or Souray was injured. I would assume (and hope) Gainey inserts Simpson. You make your decision based on need.

Streit is not half as bad defensivly as you're hinting. You do know what Simpson is really slow?

I doubt that cote will get the call. Gainey wouldnt have traded for Simpson if he tought he was going to use Cote.
So it's either Streit or Simpson.
Streit can man the powerplay.

keep kovy on the point on the power play and to heck with streit .

im still not sold on streit . sure he had a good olympics but if he was so impressive why hasnt bob played him? tells me gainey knows he needs more work .

that cote kid fit right in . he is big and he is fairly sound and will play the body and go to the corners and clear out front something streit probally never be able to do unless he puts on 15 more pounds

id argue cote right now is better/faster now than simpson . only thing simpson has is experience .

Exactly, Cote lacks experience and Gainey isn't going to take a risk on with a player that has played 5 games in the NHL in this crucial time and in the playoffs.

simpson takes alot of bad penealties . do we really need any more penealties per game ?

sure keep simpson there as a last resort but it wont be out of the question to play cote and still sit simpson in the box. again its what id do but bob will probally go the other way .

lets hope for all our sake markov can get over these spazms in his back and be in the line up monday or no later than thrursday .

Simpson against tougher teams, Streit against more skilled teams.

Easy: Simpson. See what he does and how he fits in with the team, get him immersed with the team before the playoffs. He's a good person to have around the team (as Langdon was), and it'll be good to get him involved.

Streit deserves a shot after what he did in the Olympics, plus he's closer to Markov in style than Simpson.

I'm hoping Gainey would give Streit another chance, especially if Aebischer plays.

But considering Souray has been on fire lately I guess he will be on PP most of the time and Simpson steps in to make up for physical aspect.

I guess it would depend on who the team is playing but more likely Streit since he beings a little more offence and is able to play the pp.
