Bright Spots.

Some inspiring statistics provided by Philadelphiaflyers.com...
Aparently all is not lost.
  • The Flyers are on pace to win 40 games for the sixth consecutive season and for the ninth time in 10 seasons. The Flyers are on pace to record 100 points for the third consecutive season and for the fifth time in six seasons. The Flyers have finished in first or second place in the Atlantic Division for last 10 seasons (winning the Division Championship five times).
  • Center Peter Forsberg is tied for 18th the NHL in scoring with 66 points and is fifth in the NHL in assists with 50, despite missing 16 games due to injury. Forsberg is one of two players in the NHL who are averaging more than one assist per game (Forsberg = 1.02 assists per game; San Jose's Joe Thornton = 1.10 assists per game).
  • Left wing Simon Gagne is tied for 18th in the NHL in scoring with 66 points, is fifth in the NHL in goals with 38 and is seventh in the NHL in plus/minus with a +28 rating, despite missing 10 games due to injury this season. His 38 goals this season are a new career high. He is tied for first in the NHL in goals per game, averaging 0.69 goals per game this season.
  • Right wing Mike Knuble is the only Flyer to appear in all 65 of the team's games this season.
  • The Flyers are one of two teams in the NHL (Pittsburgh is the other) with three players ranked among the top 25 rookies in points (Mike Richards - 12th with 30 points, Jeff Carter - tied for 13th with 29 points and R.J. Umberger - tied for 24th with 24 points).
  • Goaltender Antero Niittymaki is third among rookie goalies is wins with 19. Niittymaki's 19 wins are the most by a Flyers rookie goaltender since Brian Boucher won 20 games during the 1999-2000 season.
  • The Flyers lead the NHL in man-game lost due to injury at 320.

Date to remember: Playoffs begin April 21.

don't worry we don't have a chance of touching it. It's in the neighborhood of 500+.

I think their whole first line didn't play a game that season, or maybe just like 30 games. Deadmarsh didn't play at all, I think Allison missed almost the whole season, and Palffy only got a couple of games in before season ending injury.

this is a lot ...i'm afraid as poor as this team is playing, and how hard it is to watch them at times, that this is devastating to any team, and our team is still well within reach of a division title...hold out for hope, considering the injuries this season could be a lot worse

In the 2002-03 NHL season, the Kings just missed breaking the unofficial NHL record for the most man-games lost to injury in a season with 536. But they would easily surpass the record in the 2003-04 NHL season with 629 man-games lost.

They should watch "Monty Python's Quest for the Holy Grail" again. Especially the scene with the Black Knight.

They did that a few years ago (97 or 98 I think it was) as part of a sports psychology session. They went on a tear after that.

Nope. They went on a decent winning streak. Or at least a no loss streak as there were ties then. They were on a losing streak before it though. Thus the reason for bringing in a sports psychologist. It must have been after Murry because I think Neilson was the coach. Thanks for playing though.

Maybe it was 1999 then where they went on a 12-game unbeaten streak and followed it up with a 15-game winless streak.

I think you might be right there. The "Holy Grail" episode stuck in my mind because it is one of my all time favorites and couldn't believe it had that kind of effect on them.
