According to AHL by-laws, only those players listed on a teamís Clear Day roster are eligible to compete in the remaining five weeks of the 2005-06 AHL regular season and in the 2006 Calder Cup Playoffs, unless emergency conditions arise as a result of recall, injury or suspension. Teams may also add signed junior players or players on amateur tryout contracts, only after their respective junior or college seasons are complete

Hope Callahan is on the list of Junior players to be added. With his season can't understand why NY has not signed him yet?

Theres a reason Callahan isn't signed. Theres only 50 contracts allowed to be on the books by my knowledge, and those are all full up...

the reason callahan hasn't been signed yet is because his junior season isn't over yet...

and they don't have 50 guys under contract...i count 43--Baranka, Betts, Dawes, Falardeau, Giroux, Graham, Grenier, Helminen, Hollweg, Holt, Hossa, Immonen, Jagr, Jessiman, Kasparaitis, Kozak, Lampman, Liffiton, Lundqvist, Malik, Montoya,
Moore, Nylander, Orr, Ortmeyer, Ozolinsh, Pock, Poti, Prucha, Purinton, Rozsival, Rucchin, Rucinsky, Staal, Straka, Strudwick, Sykora, Taylor, Tyutin, Ward, Weekes, Weller, Wiseman

and even if all 50 nhl contracts were filled, when junior/ncaa guys join the ahl club at the end of the year they typically do it on PTOs that don't count toward the 50 limit. And you can sign guys to AHL contracts which don't count either.

Why did we take Brad Smyth back??? Rather have Kozak for some grit and toughness.

I'm pretty sure they wanted to add some more expirence for the AHL Playoffs, there is a lot of young, 1st year players on the Pack this year. It was a good move.

If you clinked on the link and scrolled down to the Syracuse Crunch roster, you would see Fedor Fedorov listed

I had a relatively recent thread where I did some research and totalled up the contracts and came up with 50. Just eyeballing it, I can see some missing players.

Fedorov, Rullier (still under contract to the Rangers, only AHL rights were traded/loaned), Sonnenberg, Stals, Rawlyk, MacIntyre, Cullen. And that makes 50.

What's that got to do with anything? You swap AHL vets to help your AHL team. You're not looking for (nor are you going to get) future NHL prospects. Both players swapped are UFAs at the end of the year anyway.

I suspect that was a move made more to get of rid of a malcontent Rullier than anything, though. And Shooter had 2G2A in his first game.

The 5 pts he had tonight might have something to do with it.
