Matt Greene Interview Coming

I have made contact with the University of North Dakota's media people and an interview with Matt Greene is in the works and tentatively set for early next week.

For those of you who have joined our board recently, this might be new to you but this is how I do things:

I encourage all of you to tell me questions that you would like me to ask of the person I interview. We did this over the summer and I think most would agree that it was a terrific success.

The general rules are that I ask you to keep the questions on topic so that thye have something to do with who I am talking to. (I don't want to ask Greene anything about Mike Comrie ). Also no contract questions, that's not something HF focuses on. Just use common sense.

OK... so let me hear what you'd like to know from one of Edmonton's best and brightest D-Man prospects!

Was major junior ever an option (or was it only college)... if he had the option, why did he choose college?

You rock, Guy. This is one I've been waiting for for a while.

I read somewhere that he had decided to give up his offensive game in order to develop his defensive skills, and I was wondering if that was a permanent thing, or if he was going to develop the offence second.

I am also wondering if he uses the intimidation factor in a Derian Hatcher-aggression way, or if he is more inclined to just be a hard checker.

Well after a disappointing training camp in which there was alot of excitement surrounding him. What does he need to do to make up the lost time or is it an issue that he thinks about. What does he need to do as a player to make the jump to the next level.

On a side note. His 21st B-Day is approaching. What are his plans to celebrate the coming of age in the US of A.

It is known that you are an aggressive player that racks up the penalty minutes for, perhaps, showing a little too much enthusiasm. Do you think that aggressiveness helps/hurts your game? Do you think you need to curb some of those unnecessary penalties in order to play in the NHL?

What NHL player did you idolize growing up and pattern yourself after as a player?

:p Do you feel you have ANY offensive flair with the puck?

Playing in the NHL, lateral footspeed and quickness is essential as a dman. What do you do to work on that during school? How often is your training regiment anyway?

You´ve been injured in the Prospect Camp and hit by the little Czech Tomas Micka - how dou you get along with him ??

Which coach/guy has been the most influencing person in your life ?

What are your aims for the future (in hockey and in privacy)

Which is your favorite NHL Team (besides the Oilers and why ?)

How were you feeling when the Oilers picked you in the 2nd round ? Were you expecting that pick ?

What news aspects can you bring to the Oilers organization ?

Which teammate impresses you the most and why ?

With which Defender of the Oilers would you team up yourself and why ?

How much pressure was there to represent the United States at the World Junior Championship in Canada?

What would you do, if your hockey career fails ?

Did you play Center or Wing earlier in your career ? If so, why did you choose to play Defense or whom insisted you (correct word??) to play Defense.

How are qou related with hockey ?

When did you start playing hockey and where ?

This is probably answered elsewhere, but I'm curious about what his major is in college. I'm also wondering why he chose the major he did - interest, use-outside-of-hockey, both, neither, so:

Do you see your time at college as being academics first, sports second, or perhaps the other way around? Or do you try to give equal time to both? Have Oilers personnel said anything to you, or asked anything of you, as far as your academics go, or are they staying out of that side of your life?

What do you study at college? Would you change anything if you weren't playing hockey?

(Or change the wording of the questions appropriately. )

Thanks Guy!

When did you think you would have a shot at the NHL?

Do you like playing in fast tempo skating games or games where there is lots of trapping?
