That looked like an elbow on York. Atlanta is following Boston's game-plan.

Hopefully they can hang in and survive the first few minutes so they can settle in.

Finally a scoring chance.

Good to see Shaw put Godard on the ice to protect The Rick

Is there a reason the refs are not calling anything against Atlanta when they should have had at least 2 penalties

That shift by Campoli, Satan, and York was really excellent! First 2 minutes go to the Thrashers, but we totally took it to them the next 3. And now, a penalty against Atlanta! LET'S GO!

I'm happy that Campoli is playing aggressively, but I'd like to see him settle down a bit with the pinching in... Atlanta is fast and could totally exploit a caught defenseman.

Chippy game because both teams know how important it is. A real battle. I say we unleash Godard on Boulton and let Atlanta know what's up.

DiPietro nice play on Hossa/Kovalchuk, so far hanging in, better speed on this teams defense, helping them. Atlanta is a very tough challenge with their skill.

Wow, we're being outshot 12-3, 12 minutes into the game... we can't expect to sustain that.

Atlanta is playing a line of Hossa-Savard-Kovalchuk? I don't think they normally do that. A desperation move to counteract our defensive prowess.

If Snow was in net it would be 5-0 Atlanta

Nilsson had Bergenheim all alone.

Four odd-man rushes for the Islanders in this peirod. So far surviving Atlanta's pressure.

Atlanta penalty. Great time to score here, late in the first period. Let's see what we can do!

Just a bad play by DP. But I'll take 1 goal on 18 shots allowed any day.

That basically stunk and looked un-necessary. Gervais penalty.

Hey, he made up for it 3x over already. He just made an AMAZING save on a one-time by Kovy having to move laterally very quickly across the crease. If we are down 1-0 at the end of this period we are simply LUCKY.

Campoli has to be smarter than that...You have to back off on a bouncing puck like that..

Great save on Kovalchuk...survived pp.

End of first 1-0..

Too much pressure against but Islanders speed is staying with them.

Nothing that can be done about the goal.

Completely agree. He's playing too aggressively tonight. ESPECIALLY with Hossa on the PK you have to hold the blueline.
