It`s beyond me how anybody could take Bossy over Trottier.

Voting for Bobby Clarke again.

Voted Mikita again but fear it is hopeless as I fear all the last round Bossy supporters will switch now to Trottier & Yzerman. Some people will not do the research on players they have not seen.

Add Max bentley. Sigh, probably also due to fail.

Trottier = 6 cups and a lot of great hockey.
I wonder how you can say voting for Trottier is a bad choice at this point (I voted for him before Bossy BTW).

I'm still wondering how a player given away by two teams for almost nothing because twenty eight teams would not touch him (Jagr) is in the top three hundred of this list regardless of statistics much less eleventh. I guess that's a stat that cannot be measured.

Looking up stats can only tell so much though. IMO, and some others, Trottier was the best two way forward ever. While I do think that he was better than Mikita, I would put both of them above Messier, Jagr and Bossy.

Wasn't thinking about just using stats to rate players you haven't seen. Stats are only part of it. You would also need to talk to people who did see them play. There are also video clips out there and a lot of reading material. Trotter may be the best 2 way player you ever saw but others would disagree. Most people who saw both trottier & gordie Howe would say Howe was the better 2 way player.

I have and they've said Trots too and also added that he was legit tough. He could take a hit and give a hit instead for spearing and elbowing to make room for himself.

We are all entitled to our opinion but I have to say that your older buddies must be big Trottier fans. I have never heard anybody that saw both pick Trottier over Howe as a 2 way player. Trottier may have been cleaner but that is not the issue, Do you really think that Gordie could not give or take a hit?

I'll admit to that and I'll admit to being a slightly older guy myself. Even though I haven't seen Howe in his prime, with the exception of clips, I did see him in his older days and the guy was just brutal even then. I wouldn't say that Howe's dirty play diminishes his all time acheivments but after seeing him play I did lose some respect for his myth.

I voted for Marcel Dionne, just a little tid-bit of interest, 6 of the top 12 players spent time as New York Rangers (Gretzky, Lafleur, Esposito, Morenz, Messier, Jagr) unfortunatley for NYR it was all during the second halves of their careers some times more like the third quarter of their careers actually...
