2-2 now in the 2nd--Giroux hits 30 too. Assists to Smyth and Immonen.

Often over looked but 30 goals for a 1st year AHLer is EXCELLENT. See you in a Rangers jersey next season hopefully!

Parise the Devils wunderkind had all of 18 in his rookie AHL season. Jessiman--a fight with Eric Meloche and Meloche is ejected because of a jersey violation. Baranka drops the gloves with Colin Fraser.

One could actually make the argument that Dawes

is every bit the prospect that Parise is. 3 - 45G+ seasons in Jrs., led the WJC in scoring the year Parise played (tied in pts, Dawes scored more goals), 1st pro year he scored 12 more goals than Parise did in a full year. Parise's been a 4th liner, -14 +/- only 8 goals in 1st NHL season. Dawes has been consistently shown little respect despite doing nothing but put up great numbers where ever he's played.

Don't see Graham on the roster either.

Glad to see Dawes is doing good, he is my favorite prospect. I say bring him up next year and have the lines

Straka-Nylander-Jagr
Prucha-Immonen-Sykora
Ward-Betts-Dawes
Hollweg-Moore-Ortmeyer

The AHL was a much stronger league last season as well. Although Parise hasn't been as impressive as many thought he would be, he is still an excellent prospect and I'm sure just about all of us would jump at the chance to trade Dawes for him.

You can, Atlanta..

but I'm not sure people would. Some people can score in the AHL, but can't port that ability into the NHL. I like Dawes and am reserving judgement until next season. I've only seen him about 4 times this season. Something's missing, and personally, I cannot put my finger on it. Maybe I'm trying to look to deep and he's a guy that just gets it done. But I don't know.

Well if we're going to be fair Synergy--yes your are right. Now and again I might feel like making parochial comments though. As for comparing Dawes and Parise--I think it's a close call. These 2 have been being compared against each other since Parise won the MVP of the WJC which some felt Dawes deserved instead. They are relatively the same size. Parise seems to have the better all around game and is probably the better skater. Dawes looks to me to have better offensive instincts. Right now my opinion would be they both look like 2nd line players.

Dawes seems to be the kid who's discounted at every level, by every respectable mind, as too small, or too this, and too that. Yet, at every level he continues to get it done.

Or like another Manitoba boy: Theo Fleury. Similarity ends there though.

Dawes is probably not going to be quite as good a player as Fleury--although we shall see--but I don't expect he'll have all the character flaws that Theo had. In any case I'd be surprised if he busts. A player who can find the holes like he does has a lot of hockey sense. Basically the thing he lacks is size.

I havn't seen him play at all this year, but after watching him at the WJC two years ago, he looked like a player to me. After seeing them both, i'ev had Dawes ahead of Jessiman for a few years now.

The new NHL should only help Dawes.

I wasn't comparing Fleury to Dawes in terms of their abilities or style, hence the "similarity ends there" bit.

But that is the thing, people try and find reasons to knock him. It's like as if when people make up excuses for when a prospect doesn't do as well, except in this case it is the opposite. People have said yeah its only the WHL and then they said well its only the WJC and then they said well yeah it's only the AHL and this year its watered down.

All I say is yeah, but the kid puts up numbers. He's a scorer and he scores where ever he's played.
