If the wild play their cards right, they could have a high scoring offensive team.

Cards right??

The Wild never play their cards right!!! Ever since they said no to THE finest non-Minnesota born hockey player in state history, I lost all faith in the worthless organization. Sorry Modano, you aren't good enough for our team. Expect LeCrap to push Gaborik out of the organization next trade deadline as the constant build for the future sets 2020 as the year for a playoff run for the Wild. And Rolston... he will be gone as soon as he voices his displeasure with the stingiest organization in the league.

Kassian AND Boogaard...what the hell? Goon squad 08!!!

Reitz will never make it and we'll remember him like we did Michalek.

Yeah, I really don't know that much about Kassian. Other than everybody is p*ssed that we burnt a 2nd rounder on him, and that he is slightly more skilled than Boogard was at his age (for what that's worth). Nevertheless, I really want to believe the scouts saw some potential in him other than just another enforcer.

Maybe a late bloomer who will develop into a pf, crash the net, eat defenders alive up front, free up the ice for 2 smaller/skilled linemates, develop his skating enough to take care of his own end. And yes, throw down too. I'm probably being delusional. But it's only 2006, so I'll live in my happy world for now.

coming off a 44 point season with a -21, i think the wild showed more of what they are trying to do by not signing him. he is having a good season in dallas this year, but i don't think he would be putting up those numbers with the wild if they had signed him.

I agree - it looked like he was on a steep decline after last season. The guy is almost as old as Wes Walz, and had been beaten up pretty good over the course of 16 some years in the NHL. He's one big hit away from retirement, which is a high risk way to build a young franchise.

When DR picked Kassian, the situation was Moose had decided he was retiring and we had no legitimate enforcer. We'd signed Nazarov as a temporary fix. If Nazarov couldn't compete (and he couldn't) and Boogaard couldn't skate, we'd have a third possibility. DR knows he needs somebody to protect Gaborik, he was just playing it safe. I'm not sure why they picked Kassian so high other than they must have thought someone else was looking at him.

We all know now that with Boogaard terrorizing the league, we don't need Kassian.

Top Scorers:
Gabbie
Rolston
Patrick O'Sullivan (makes team in 06/07)
Pierre Marc Bouchard
Voloshenko (called up on 06/07, permanent by 07/08)

Defensive forwards:
Walz (if'n he hasn't retired yet)
Vielleux
Westrum

Other forwards:
Koivu
Wanvig or Foy (1 of them will figure out how to score in the NHL)
Boogaard
Pouliot (makes team in 07/08)
Robitaille or White (one of them will still be here)
Weinhandl or a prospect from our system

Defensive Corps:
Burns
Foster
Skoula
Stoner
Tjarnquist or Schultz
UFA
Belle or some other prospect

Goalies:
Fernandez
Harding

That's 23 by my count.

Gawd I hope so ... forgot about him. He might be the guy to replace Wanvig or Foy. Possibly Weinhandl, too.

Don't forget the fact that they'll be wearing the new "Houston Wild" jerseys, as yet another NHL franchise moves from Minnesota to Texas.

Too soon?
