Wow, now THIS is how you play bottom rung teams. Put the boots to them. Stupid Atlanta is winning though. That awful 4-0 loss we had to them back on Boxing Day '05 will be huge in the end, if they somehow pass us. We have a game in hand on them, thankfully. And that one will be tomorrow. Good thing Huet is not getting tested so he can be well rested for tomorrow. And if tomorrow goes as smoothly, he'll have his batteries cooled for two games that will likely be real busy against Toronto. Then maybe Abs in Pittsburgh Sunday if Huet is dead tired.
Abby will need to show up then and excercise his demons from Saturday. Hopefully then we'll start carrying over our solid road warrior play in the post-Olympic break to the Bell Centre. How odd is it that just before the olympic break we started winning road games and then started losing home games? Has everything gone topsy-turvy. We used to kick some @ss at home, but now I just dunno what to think anymore. Anyway, 4-1 Habs, so let's keep it up. Having a 3 or more goal lead heading to the 3rd is definitely an advantage we'd like to have.
Well, we'll still be 3 pts. back of them should current scores hold up. BUT if I'm correct, we will hold 2 games in hand (one of those being tomorrow). Like Gainey said, go for 7th. Then again, that mentality might've led us to some lousy home games cause we seemed to forget there were teams chasing us too!
meanwhile, if Huet's night continues to be as easy as its been, I dont think there's any doubt that BG goes with Huet tommorow.
I'd have wanted him to start even if tonight was busy and/or a struggle. Aebischer had two games to earn a role as goalie #1B but now he is definitely the backup cause 2 games in this playoff race is the limit you can give for a goalie to find his game. So he'll only get into the lineup on occasion. But don't give up on Abby, he'll get time to get accustomed and perhaps by next season he'll emerge as 1B to Huet's 1A or vice versa. Yes, re-sign Huet, dangit! Better safe than sorry, I say.
