Nitty start confirmable LOTN?

Hitch said in the post game stuff that he going to decide on a goalie for the playoffs, not rotating. If nitty does real well tonight that may be an early clincher...

I'd imagine that Esche goes in tonight, strictly because it's a back to back.

Sounds like no one knows who is starting:

Quote:
Robert Esche should be in net against the Rangers tonight.

That was the plan Monday, according to Flyers coach Ken Hitchcock. In a back-to-back situation, the goalie who did not play the night before will start. Every other game will depend on how the previous game went. Play well, play again.

But never count on Hitchcock. He likes to change his mind. And after the way Antero Niittymaki played against the Devils last night, he might just do that.

Like the way he did about naming a starter for the playoffs. On Monday, asked about the necessity of naming a starting goalie and staying with one for the playoffs he said, "Maybe you do and maybe you don't."

Last night that changed to: "You mean alternating? No I'm not going to do that."
I'm thinking Hitchcock keeps everyone guessing who's going to be the #1 and gives Esche the start tonight.

it isn't as if Esche has been awful of late... did have a SO in Florida (who are playing well right now).

The only problem being is that I don't believe the Flyers have won a game that has been on TSN this season. That being said it is time to break that curse...Huge game tonight

Jagr Owns Esche, does anyone have his stats against Esche? Id go with Nitty.

going out on a limb i say 5-3 flyers win, Umberger with a big game and Gauthier and Hatcher laying some big hits. This should be a good one

This is a huge game. 4 points. I think we all believe Nitty should be the starter or number one but not by a long shot. I say throw Esche into the mix tonight. Hopefully he flops in such a big game and Nitty gtes to ride the white horse into the playoffs. Esche has 0 experience compared to Nitty. Nitty won a silver and was mvp in the olympics, he won the AHL title and was named MVP, he does awesome here lately and hasn't let in a poor goal in awhile. Esche played well for us but over two years ago. One game in the olympics and did awful. Liek I said, tonight let him have it, it's a huge game and hopefully he flops so that Hitch finally sees what we all see and that Nits should get the nod.

If Niitty continues to play well I think he's the proper choice, but lets not go overboard.

Esche outplayed Brodeur and Belfour during the 04 playoffs. He played Khabibulin to a draw. Esche was outstanding during the 2004 World Cup. Esche played one game during the Olympics, he wasn't great, but he wasn't awful either.

Niitty has played great the last two games, but previous to that he was struggling, and certainly was giving up weak goals (see Drury, Chris 3rd period vs. Buffalo)

The Brodeur we faced that year had the weakest performance I've ever seen from him

Where is Radio ? I think he should replace Savage. Not that you tinker with a winning lineup but he is faster than savage plays harder on the boards and compliments Zues and Neds way better. BTW wasn't Nedved great lastnight- he was really physical and skating well-plus he is shooting more, lucky post but he will start to score more if he lets that wrist shot go more often.

Esche seems to play very well on the raod, donít have his stats in front of me but I am sure they are better than Nitty on the road. Play Nitty at home Esche on the road, see now that was simple.
