Isn't Filip Kuba a free agent next year? I would like the Habs to sign someone like him, or the Finnish defenseman who scored in the gold medal game (can't remember gis name, or if he is available). A defenseman who would be an improvement but wouldn't break the bank. An improvement at defense will improve the offense as well, plus guys like Ryder, Perezhogin, and Ribeiro (and Higgins and Plekanec) will all have one more year under their belts, and hopefully some will be ready to step up a little bit more.

Go Habs Go!

Overall, a defenseman to upgrade the defense is a bonus. Given how many in on the market. But offense needs to be addressed this summer also. Big mistake last year.

I would sign either Jason Arnott or trade for a goal scorer.

Making it...sign Chara and Arnott...deal Zednik, Riberio and Abs to bolster our draft position. Time to take a gamble

I quite simply dont understand why people think that defense is a weakness on this team when cleary we need offense. In fact the play of our defense is why were in a playoff race to begin with, if it wasent for them we would be fighting for a lottery pick.

Lets look at our defense as a hole

I think this is all that needs to be said about our defence.

Markov : Should be consider as a elite defencemen. The most underated defencemen in the league. When media ouside off montreal talk about the best defencemen in the league they never mention this guy when clearly he should be in the top 8.
Souray: Sure he had his lows at the beginig of the season but he showed he can play some great hockey. When his shot is on hes lethal on the power play. If hes traded in the off season it would be a huge mistake. Two years ago he started out so good that he was consider for the norris trophy, because of an injury he had a slow second half. this year some family issues contributed to his slow start but since the second half hes looking like the defencemen he was two years ago. If souray is injury free and puts his familly issues asidde he can put togheter a strong year wich is why the habs should not trade him. No one on this roster has the kind of shot souray has from the point. you cant replace that.
Rivet:Very dependable player, can contribute on the power play, very reliable in his own zone, puts up decent numbers, and a good character guy who drops the glove on ocasion. A perfect defencemen for a second unit.
Komisarek: Gives you a physical presence,His skating ability is darn good if you consider how big he is. He reminds me in alot of ways like a young rivet.
Bouillon:A work horse, one of the best 5th defencemen in the league. He'll rarely make mistakes in his own zone.

We got five defencemen who can log more than 20 minuts a game, put up decent points. What more do you want??? Komisarek is very dependable and if we sign a redden or someone of that caliber who by the way would cost us a arm in a leg salary cap wise to get would take away from komisarek minuts and ruin his development. Spending all are cap on defencemen would not help us at all when what we need is scorers.

Were one of the only team who dosent have a 30 goal scorer and any top teams has at least 2 of them at least. I dont care if the guy is a cherry picker, a floter or bad on defense, if he can pop 30 goals a season then sign him, we got enough defensive fowards who would compasite for that players lack of defense. We can find defense in the draft instead of wasting all our cash and cap space on defense.
we need to find an identity in the offseason , what are we? we are a poor offensive team, suspect defensively, BG has to decide where to go from here , enough of this bandaid BS , pick a style and move on . Calagary is hard nosed tough team, the Sabres are a fast skilled 2 way team, Ottawa is a machine offensively, WE ARE NOTHING YET?

Hundreds of posts and you're crying in each one. Related to Crosby?
