The Habs forward group lacks talent overall and is unbalanced, in the sense that the wingers are much better than the centers. Centers being more valuable and impactful than wingers, the Habs are really going nowhere with this formula.

Habs should sign a talented forward, and package some "excess" wing talent for center talent. The most valuable winger we have is Pacioretty. Tremendous scorer on a good contract. I like the guy but I would package him with picks and prospects for a true center.

How to fix the center problem?

How about firing the guy who can't fix the problem?

Did he get picked by an expansion team when he had only 9 NHL games? I don't get your point.

When he only had 9 NHL games, Tatar was mostly an AHLer. Hence why he played 130 more games in the AHL after those 9 games.

first we bind Bergevin and then march him up the montagne like at midnight

a rough clearing opens to a unlit pyre of wood that smells like gasoline, a full moon is overhead and it's light shows Therrien is there already bound and unconscious......Bergevin is bound to the pyre also

a dark circle of priests emerge and poof next year we have a top undead 1C

play Galchenyuk at center and live with the possibility that the Habs might not make the playoffs that year.

My point is that just because a prospect doesn't have much NHL experience doesn't mean that they are unappealing. GM's can still see the value in prospects, and an expansion team like Vegas may very well be quite interested in claiming a 22 year old prospect with good numbers on a pretty weak AHL team. I'd think that an expansion team would be more interested in claiming a prospect with top 6 upside than two overpaid dime a dozen third liners in Emelin and Plekanec who will be UFAs in a year. Then again, they may choose to pick Davidson or Benn (although I think Benn gets protected).

Just because they are 'mostly AHL' guys right now, doesn't mean that will be the case in 2-5 seasons.

We fix the problem by getting a better centre.

Time to bite the bullet and see if NYI will do a JT for Max swap. I would give up 2 years of Max for 1 year of JT.

Its the best asset we have. Add a 1st or prospects if need be.

Tavares would solve the problem ...now if we can convince the Isles to trade him to us and get him signed another issue

Yup thats the problem. I am sure NYI is trying to get him signed. Hope is he told ownership he wants out of that gong show.

As far as having him singed I don't even care. I would trade for 1 year of JT. Gives the habs a chance to resign and negotiate with him all year.

Max is not leading this team anywhere in the playoffs so having an unsigned JT is a risk I am willing to take.

Several other teams with more and better assets than the Habs have, would also be in the running. Good luck with that.

Jay Feaster is an old school guy. He isn't going to waste his expansion draft selection on a guy who has proven nothing in the NHL. Especially a 22 year old 5th rounder under six feet tall who couldn't crack his team lineup.

I'm not saying Hudon doesn't have potential. I like him a lot. But like I said, I'm pretty positive Jay Feaster isn't going to select him or any other player who can't get a spot in the NHL right now.

You can take it as a slight to Hudon, but I don't know why.

Not many teams can afford him or need him.

Yes, he does. He's a center playing on the wing because Wild is loaded down the middle.

Again with this????

He's like Galchenyuk, not good enough to be a top centermen in this league. Coyle is more of a power forward winger.

May i suggest you take some time off this site during the summer and watch lots of hockey...I meam a loooooooot of hockey. You really need it.

Pretty sure Toronto would be ready to trade Nylander+ for him... try to match that...

Pacioretty + Gallagher would be a good start....

And where do you get those 50 to 60 goals you just lost from Pacioretty and Gallagher?

Tavares is a 30-40 guy and will make his linemates better, but we are still probably 20 goals short with the trade.

That's a major problem with this team is that we have nothing in term of assets to trade for a legit #1C without creating a hole somewhere else. 5 years of Bergevin!!!

Step 1 - Fire Bergevin
Step 2 - Chucky @ center
Step 3 - Profit

Can you stick to the hockey talk even if you are not very good at it?

We're not getting Sidney Crosby this summer ffs!

Charlie Coyle can play center! Would he be ideal? No, I don't think so.But it's an option we should look at.

I keep hearing Chucky is definitely a center. Well, if Chucky is a center then so is Coyle!

How this changes anything?

They went and got Hanzal to solidify their roster.

They have Stall, Koivu, Granlund, and Coyle that can play center.
