Kid #2 is due for me in mid-June the week after the Stanley Cup Finals are typically played. Was the first thing I did, after doing some rough math in my head, to check the schedule of the last few SCFs to see if the baby would come during the Finals? You bet. Now it's looking like baby #2 will come a few weeks early, so hopefully the Caps are still playing hockey when it arrives!

Totally adorable baby... Congrats!

Living in SoCal though, I cannot force the Caps on my 2 year old, who is starting to get into hockey. He'll be given the choice of the Ducks or Kings, but making him become a Caps fan could be considered child abuse.

That picture is a beaut, LN5! Congrats. I have a cool frame of my daughter wearing a Toddler's sized Ovie jersey (which was still enormous on her) the night of the first Caps game after she was born and then again wearing the same jersey on her 2nd birthday (we took her to a Caps game that day). Crazy how fast they grow.

seems like everyone is on the same page here. on paper, Caps *should* win this game. i don't think there's any adjustments or anything the penguins can do that will make much of a difference if we show up loose, confident, yet disciplined.
hopefully we'll see Caps force the penguins to CHOKE a series they had 2-0 and 3-1 leads in.

Out of all the games, this one will not be because of trotz no matter what imo. If the players can't be pumped up for this game then trotz won't be able to change that

Murray is the backup tonight

It wouldn't surprise me to see him get the surprise start.

That would be the definition of a panic move. Fleury has been their best player outside of last game and really the only reason this series was not a sweep for the Caps.

If they DO do that and Murray gives up an early one or doesn't look sharp there will be a meltdown.

Best to use him in the event they need to change momentum and even then with him just being the backup it will have Fleury looking over his shoulder.

My friends, don't let them suck you back in. You know they are just waiting to deliver the most painful way to lose a series.
I also agree with this sentiment.

I hate this. I hate this team. Dammit.

I love this team. Go Caps!

I'm shocked that I am in the minority. I feel GOOD!

What really has made me feel good is how my Pens friends are reacting. Unlike in the past where they would be confident and betting on the games they are avoiding all that and simply just praying.

Each and everyone of them is fully cognizant of the Caps domination and are just hoping for some bounces to get by.

Also we have come out poorly in Game 7s in the past....whether that 6-2 loss the Pitt, Monty, the embarrassing loss to the Rangers under Oates etc (even when we beat the Rags on the Fedorov goal that was an ugly game played by the Caps)

But under Trotz we have played 2 game 7s and have had the much better of the play in both (won vs Isles and lost in OT vs Rags)

And that was pre Justin Williams and playing in tightly contested series that were basically coin flips.

4-1 Caps

Sure, but some coaches don't believe in losing ones job due to injury. Some push the panic button subtly (inserting him as backup but ready to go). Some push the panic button frantically (Bruce).

If he is healthy enough to backup, he is healthy enough to play. I thought he was widely recognized as their best goalie, and MAF just gave up 5. Not that I think those were soft goals, mind you.

Nothing surprises me in hockey. What may be more surprising, is a coach not using his presumed best players, out of fear of the unknown.

tbh I could care less who they have in net. If the Caps play like they can it doesn't matter.

It would be a move borne out of desperation in all honesty and the signal would be sent to the Caps as well as their own team. If Sullivan is truly willing to do that then it shows how desperate he is...

Like when the bad guy in the movie expends his clip trying to stop the good guy and then just chucks the .45 at him praying that it would work (it never does)

Really hope the Caps pull through this time. Expecting the worst, however. Damn Penguins. Why does it always have to be them.
