Do the advanced stats say he should be desperate? I haven't looked. But coaches only get 3 losses in a row before trying a new starter he is at 2 but its game 7.

I call bunk that it would send the wrong signal. Hockey players are used to goalies getting yanked. It's more a mind game to change the mindset of shooters.

Pulling for you boys. Caps have been the better team in 5 out of the 6 games so far, no reason to think that will change tonight. Plus Washington has been doing it the right way all season, no diving, no whining etc. Good luck guys

Remember when the Russians pulled Tretiak? Was that bunk or not? Seemed like that only emboldened team USA. At least it did from the movie.....

I'll be curious to see if they do that.

Gotta love the NHL

Game 6 draws the refs with the two highest home team winning percentages (above 70%) in Pittsburh

Game 7 draws two of the lower home team winning percentages (56 and 25!!!!!!!!!%) in Washington

It is like the NHL isn't even trying to hide their bias any more

The refs will be fine. The Capitals need to make sure they don't give them an excuse to raise their arms.

Also if I were Trotz or Ovechkin I'd directly tell the refs that the Penguins are likely going to try to make it 4v4 as much as possible. The Capitals need to keep up their end of the bargain and not take dumb matching minors but I'd also let the refs know to expect it.

I went looking for the GDT for Game 6 last year to see how some of us commented heading into that game and compare it to this year. Not much different.

http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/sh....php?t=2076261

Having said that, I did notice one disturbing similarity between game 6 last year and game 7 this year. Both were/are being played on May 10th.

If you have a dog, cat or both, kick it.

Looked at the boxscore from last year.

With 6 D last year, Alzner only played 5 mintues and was done early and Chorney played 16 minutes. Oh, and Mike Richards played.

I actually think going w/ 7 d has been undervalued. It can allow Trotz to protect certain D, save some legs and get the benefit of Alzner on the PK.

I watched a bunch of Youtube videos of recent years' playoff losses, including the Ward high stick/ 6 seconds left fiasco. Figured it's best to train my heart for the possibility.

The fact that they've rolled 7 D this whole series, the D seems fresh, and PK's with a D in the box don't disrupt them. Thats 7th D has been much more valuable than a 4th liner who barely played.

It's also getting guys who are playing well an extra shift now and then to confuse the defensive matchups for the Pens.
