TSN preview

Quote:
...The Sabres were 0-for-5 on the power-play Friday and have not scored in 15 chances over their last three games with the extra skater. They have also been outscored 16-6 in their last four games.

A loss tonight would give the Sabres their first five-game drought since losing seven in a row from December 4-19, 2003.

Buffalo, which will close their trek against the New York Rangers on Monday, is 21-10-2 away from home this season.

Boston, meanwhile, comes in on a losing note as well after dropping a 4-2 decision to the New Jersey Devils on Friday on Ken Daneyko Night at Continental Airlines Arena.

Brad Isbister tallied a goal and an assist while Glen Murray also netted a goal for the Bruins, who have lost three in a row and nine of their last 11 games.

Andrew Raycroft started the game in net for Boston and made 12 saves on 15 shots faced before being pulled for Tim Thomas in the second. Thomas made eight saves in defeat.

Boston, which will close a two-game homestand against the Florida Panthers on Monday, is 14-14-7 in its arena this season.

Buffalo has dominated the Bruins this season, winning all six contests. The Sabres, who have won seven of the last 10 overall matchups, have also had success in Beantown, where they have won three straight and four of its last five.
TBN: Sabres officially in a slump

Quote:
The Buffalo Sabres had their share of dumb luck when things were going their way, but such fortune has a way of turning its back over a long season.

Now it seems they can't catch a break. They hit five goal posts over two games, had two pucks begging to cross the goal line and came away with nothing.

...

"It looks like they made the correct call," Ruff said. "When you get into a funk like that, the breaks go the other way. We had a lot of great bounces go our way [earlier in the season]. We have to continue to grind away."

It would have been easier to stomach if that was their lone lost opportunity. Earlier in the game, J.P. Dumont redirected Brian Campbell's slap shot off one post, watched it dance along the goal line, bounce off the other post and trickle into safety. The Sabres hit three other posts in a 4-3 loss to Carolina on Wednesday.

No matter how it's added up, it's four straight losses.

Thanks NJ.

Concerned, worried, anxious... I'm not looking at this as a slam dunk win by any means. At some point the B's have to get themselves together against Buffalo. This may (or may not) be that game. Suffice to say, if the Sabres play to the level they did last night, it will at least be a decent game.

"Time to see what the lads are made of" because "this is a gut check game" that they "need to give 110% every shift" and "take this one one game at a time."

Cliche city.

I thought they played well last night, best game against Ottawa this year.

The slump ends, 5-2 Buffalo.

I agree, despite the loss, I thought they played good as well.
The effort did seem to be there, the bounces just didn't go our way.

Will Biron get the nod tonight?

If I could call it, I'd give Marty the start tonight...

They play 2 out of the next 3 games against the Bruins, a team they've swept so far this season.

If the streak was getting into their heads, the "ownage" of the Bruins could just nullify that.

So, hoping for a win...
And a good game all around,... goalies, defense, forwards.

If they don't win this, THEN I'll be scared.

But I don't think they'll give me a chance to. 4-1 Sabres.

1. I said it would be a 5-7 game skid.

2. I am Master of the Universe.

3. Broons 3 (Boynton, Leetch, Murray) Sabres 2 (Kotalik, Kalinin).

Then the healing can begin.

Maybe a change in avatar will help end this skid.

I also just finished setting up a large bonfire out back and am getting ready to begin my rain dance ceremony.

I hope this oil based body paint will eventually come off...

The powerplay gets back on track in this game. Vanek pots 2, and Briere with a goal and three assists. AlKo with the other goal.

Sabs take it 4-1.

3-1 buffalo. Our offense is obviously trying to get back into the swing of things. Since we have some assets missing (Connolly and Hecht), it will not be a blowout game like the last time we played the Beaners.

I think I mentioned this last night, but I actually like the Sabres tonight. I think they'll still frustrate us as fans, but have enough juice to squeek out a close one against Thomas and the B's.
